cONCEPT: I wanted to create a song that i could shock a crowd with, and really take them off their feet.

DIRECTORS COMMENTARY: after a few years off from covid, i started playing shows again in the summer of 2022 and found myself in an interesting spot. the scene that i grew up with, that i based my sound off of AND FELT COMFORTABLE WITH, had DISAPpEAREd and this new environment made my feel a bit lost, and honestly, old. the new guys all came with modern trap beats, auto-tuned melodies, and that weird, sub-category of pop-rap that i rolled with, felt gone. so i decided to make a song that was my style, but fit in with their vibe and tone and would impress their audience. plus, this is such a fun yet lyrical song, i think people may miss that but get it the second time around. banger tho

cONCEPT: I wanted to create a song that thanks the people in my life, before i die and don’t get the chance to

DIRECTORS COMMENTARY: this whole process kinda began when kobe died in 2020. i wasn’t a huge basketball fan but it was crazy how such an icon died, without saying goodbye. that got me thinking like, what if i die and don’t get to say goodbye or thank the people that are important in my life? it weirdly got me thinking, like what would they play at my funeral, and i set out to make a song that would say everything i needed to say, in case i can’t. the song has taken many forms and took 2 1/2 years to finish, but what you hear, is really my polished message to everyone. love me when i’m here, but if i go, remember me and do what i COULDN’T.

cONCEPT: i wanted to remix the original ‘temporary tattoos’ and give it a whole new flair to it

DIRECTORS COMMENTARY: i never really do remixes to my songs, but i love ‘temp tats’ a lot and didn’t want the era to end so soon, plus i figured it was a concept that a lot of artists could relate to. i went to elementary and highschool with may, and saw him start rapping over the last few months or so, and thought who better to rap about the neighbourhood we grew up than him. he snapped, i wanted him to reference our streets and he really hit some of the staples like countryside and johnson park. i was super inspired by brockhampton’s remix of ‘sugar’ where they re-structured the whole song, enlisted features and really made it into a whole new song, rather than just adding a verse into the original. so i added effects, RESTRUCTURED areas, got tk to record a wicked guitar solo and even played some synths myself. this was a super fun project and im proud of this remix experiment.

cONCEPT: I WANTED TO WRITE A SONG ABOUT GROWING UP AND REALIZING THAT SOME THINGS FADE AWAY, SOMETIMES WITHOUT YOU REALIZING IT.

DIRECTORS COMMENTARY: I WROTE THIS SONG WHEN I WAS MAKING 5TH AVE LAST SUMMER. IT DIDN'T MAKE THE CUT BECUASE IT WAS ONLY A 1:30 INTERLUDE. SO I KEPT IT AND ALWAYS WANTED TO RELASE IT, SO I REVAMPED IT INTO THE NEARLY 5 MINUTE VERSION YOU HEAR NOW, WROTE A SECOND VERSE AND ADDED IN A BUNCH OF EXTRA VOCALS. EVERY LYRIC IS TRUE, ME AND A CHILDHOOD BEST FRIEND DON'T TALK MUCH AND I MISS THAT, AND I'VE BEEN TOO SCARED TO REACH OUT. IF YOU'RE READING THIS, THE DMS ARE OPEN G

Also, i created an experience for all of us to REMINISCE on together, called the temporary tattoos memory bank, you can check it out and submit your memory here

SOLARIS (FEAT. K DOUBLE D)

RELEASED ON JULY 17 2020

WRITTEN BY EVERETT CHAMPION

PRODUCED BY FIKA BEATS

MIXED BY DAMIEN BIRDSEY

MASTERED BY DAMIEN BIRDSEY

CONCEPT: the song all about driving fast down an empty road with your friends.

DIRECTORS COMMENTARY: i shot this song over to kyle and this dude had a verse recorded and mixed to me that night, shit was crazy. the song was originally called “my friends” but we felt that was a little too easy. since it’s about driving, i named the song after the colour of my Mini Cooper, solaris orange, plus solaris means “the sun” perfect for this project

ORANGINA

RELEASED ON June 26th 2020

WRITTEN BY EVERETT CHAMPION

PRODUCED BY mantra

MIXED BY DAMIEN BIRDSEY

MASTERED BY DAMIEN BIRDSEY

CONCEPT: THE SONG FINDS ME CONFESSING MY FEELINGS FOR MY GIRLFRIEND AS I COMPARE HER BEAUTY TO THE COLOURS OF THE SUMMER AND THE TASTE OF CITRUS-FLAVOURED DRINK ORANGINA.

DIRECTORS COMMENTARY: MY GIRLFRIEND, WHO IS THE GIRL ON THE COVER, ALWAYS SAID I WAS SINGING ABOUT OTHER GIRLS IN MY SONGS, SO I WROTE HER THIS ONE. I ALWAYS USED TO DRINK ORANGINA WITH MY FRIENDS GROWING UP AND IT ALWAYS FELT LIKE A WARM SUMMER DAY TO ME, JUST HOW MY GIRLFRIEND FEELS... YEAH REAL MUSHY. FOR VERSE 2 I STARTED EVERY LINE DESCRIBING THE COLOURS I SEE. I LOVE THIS SONG AND I FEEL LIKE IT’S THE UPGRADED/VERSION 2 OF MAMACITA, SO I GUESS PRACTICE DOES MAKE PERFECT.

young visionary freestyle volume. 1

RELEASED ON december 27th 2019

WRITTEN BY EVERETT CHAMPION

PRODUCED BY logic

MIXED BY matthew esmailian

MASTERED BY matthew esmailian

CONCEPT: the song is a freestyle detailing the events of 2019 and showing my lyrical ability as i touch on these topics

DIRECTORS COMMENTARY: first of all, fuck Jim Fannon. if you don’t know who that is, good, if you do than you’ll love the outro of this. i wrote the first half of this verse a while back and when i heard this beat, produced by logic btw, i loved the cinematic and mafiatic tone it had so i ran with it. logic tossed this beat on twitter for fans to rap to, so i immediately grabbed it and wrote the second half within minutes once i had the idea. also yeah fuck Jim Fannon, i ripped audio from an interview i did with him earlier in the year (which was a mistake) and tossed it at the end as it felt fitting to end the song with a hate rant from this goofy fuck to accent the point of racism and white PRIVILEGE.

on the rocks (acoustic)

RELEASED ON december 6th 2019

WRITTEN BY EVERETT CHAMPION

performed by everett champion, nico tk, Claudia Coppola & victoria jones

MIXED BY matthew esmailian

MASTERED BY matthew esmailian

concept: the song details where i want to be when i am 40-50, after i’ve acquired the money, fame and love that i’ve been searching for my whole career.

DIRECTORS COMMENTARY: this is one of my favourite songs i’ve ever made, it sounds like daniel caesar meets “suit and tie” justin timberlake. the female vocals in the hook literally give me chills, they’re so sweet and lush, ugh claudia and victoria snapped. i wrote the song back in the summer of 2018 while chilling with kris kelly, we made a song called “where ya going?” and that’s where the first verse of this song came from. once i found this beat a year later, i took my verse from “where ya going?”, and it hit the bpm perfectly. WHEN IT CAME TO THE HOOK, I TOOK THis “WE DON’T TAKE PICTURES” LINE FROM A CHILDISH GAMBINO sway in the morning FREESTYLE THAT I’VE ALWAYS LOVED, THANKS DONALD, raps fans will know what i’m talking about

VSCO (FEAT. NICO TK, K DOUBLE D, Kris Kelly & STEVIE DAVIS)

written by: everett champion, nico tripodi, kyle damji, kris kelly, and stevie davis

produced by: vue

vocals: everett champion, nico tk, k double d, kris kelly, and stevie davis

mixed by: KYLE WHITTAKER @ STRANGE PUMPKIN STUDIOS

MASTERED BY: kyle whittaker @ strange pumpkin studios

CONCEPT: A DRAMATIC LOOK INTO THE POPULAR SOCIAL MEDIA OUTLET, VSCO, TOLD FROM CHAMPION’S PERSPECTIVE WITH HELP FROM FREQUENT COLLABORATORS NICO TK, KRIS KELLY, K DOUBLE D AND AN OUTLANDISH HOOK FROM TORONTO ARTIST, STEVIE DAVIS.

DIRECTORS COMMENTARY: HMM, where do i start with vsco… this is the one man. this song literally built itself, originally i wrote it about a girl that i found on vsco from my hometown. i showed what i had to nico, kris and kyle and we all decided we would make it a big group record, and then we found stevie. stevie is an illusive guy, but damn when i did lock a studio session down with him, he snapped… and we never saw him again… also we dedicated the song and music video to that girl from my hometown and i’m still waiting on a response

NIGHTS LIKE THESE (REMIX) [FEAT. BEEPAX]

written by: everett champion & BEEPAX

produced by: ACID DOPE

vocals: everett champion, NICK BEE & D PAX

mixed by: KYLE WHITTAKER @ STRANGE PUMPKIN STUDIOS

MASTERED BY: kyle whittaker @ strange pumpkin studios

CONCEPT: I JUST WANTED A SONG TO TALK ABOUT ME, MY WORK, AND MY FRIENDS

DIRECTORS COMMENTARY: THE FIRST VERSE WAS ORIGINALLY A REMIX OF HOODIE ALLEN AND G-EAZY’S “LADY KILLERS” BEFORE I TURNED IT INTO THIS. I EVEN USED TO USE SOME OF THIS LINES IN FREESTYLES WITH FRIENDS, PEOPLE USED TO LOVE THE “CALL OF DUTY” LINE AND THE “12-INCH GOLD” ONE. BEEPAX TAPPED ME AFTER WE PLAYED A SHOW TOGETHER AND WANTED TO REMIX IT, SO OF COURSE I HAD TO LET THE BOYS DO IT. IT’S FUNNY THO, THIS WAS ONE OF THE FIRST YV COLLABS BUT NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT IT, OH WELL THEIR LOSS

JULIET (FEAT. Kris Kelly)

WRITTEN BY: EVERETT CHAMPION AND KRIS KELLY

PRODUCED BY: KLOUD BEATS

VOCALS: EVERETT CHAMPION AND KRIS KELLY

MIXED BY: KYLE WHITTAKER @ STRANGE PUMPKIN STUDIOS

MASTERED BY: KYLE WHITTAKER @ STRANGE PUMPKIN STUDIOS

CONCEPT: THE SONG DETAILS THE LIFE OF A PARTY GIRL WHO HAS A SERIOUS DRUG ADDICTION AND SPINS THE STORY OF THE ICONIC SHAKESPEARE PLAY ROMEO AND JULIET IN A MODERN SETTING. IT ALSO IS A SPIRITUAL SUCCESSOR TO PREVIOUS SONGS OF MINE LIKE “OPPOSITES” AND “XYZ”

DIRECTORS COMMENTARY: I REMEMBER COMING UP WITH THE “RUBY RED / TRULY DEAD / JULIET” RHYMES WHILE WALKING MY DOG AND THOUGHT IT WAS SO COOL, AND WROTE THE SONG WHEN I CAME HOME. WHILE WRITING THE REST OF THE HOOK, I WAS LISTENING TO “SACRIFICES” BY BIG SEAN FEATURING MIGOS AND LOVED THE WAY QUAVO USED THE ADLIB “WHITE!” WHEN TALKING ABOUT A GIRL AND COCAINE, AND DECIDED TO THROW IT IN THE HOOK AS MY OWN ADLIB. I ALSO REFERENCE A FUTURE PROJECT… SEE IF YOU CAN SPOT IT

SEVENTEEEN

WRITTEN BY: EVERETT CHAMPION

PRODUCED BY: SYNTHETIC BEATS

VOCALS: EVERETT CHAMPION

MIXED BY: KYLE WHITTAKER @ STRANGE PUMPKIN STUDIOS

MASTERED BY: KYLE WHITTAKER @ STRANGE PUMPKIN STUDIOS

CONCEPT: THE SONG IS A TIME CAPSULE OF ONE OF THE BEST YEARS OF MY LIFE, 2017. THE SONG IS SOLELY ABOUT ENJOYING ADOLESCENCE AND CAPTURING THE BEST MOMENTS OF YOUR LIFE

DIRECTORS COMMENTARY: I WAS SO NERVOUS TO RELEASE THIS SONG, I MEAN THE FIRST VERSE STARTS WITH “HICKEYS, I JUST SEE ‘EM VISIBLY” HOW DO YOU THINK I FELT SHOWING THAT TO MY MOM. ALSO, EVEN THOUGH THIS SONG APPEARS ON “OUT FOR THE NIGHT”, I WROTE AND RELEASED IT A YEAR BEFORE, EVEN BEFORE “DAZE OF SUMMER”, AND IT’S RECEPTION WAS SUPER COMFORTING AND INSPIRED ME TO CREATE A PROJECT WITH A SIMILAR TONE. IT ALSO MURDERS MY VOCAL CHORDS EVERY TIME I PLAY IT, USUALLY BECAUSE IT PLAY IT LAST IN MY SETS AND IT’S SO HIGH ENERGY

MAMACITA

written by: everett champion

produced by: mantra

vocals: everett champion

mixed by: kyle whittaker @ strange pumpkin studios

MASTERED BY: kyle whittaker @ strange pumpkin studios

CONCEPT: i like spanish girls, that’s it. not exclusively, but you get the idea. the song is directed towards a spanish girl as i attempt to make her mine

DIRECTORS COMMENTARY: WHEN I NEEDED A PRE-HOOK, I KEPT HEARING THE “YOU KNOW I KNOW i SEE YA” MELODY AND TONE IN MY HEAD, AND SWORE I KNEW IT FROM SOMEWHERE. i searched to find that melody and tone all over but i could never narrow it down, i guess it just came to me, it didn’t even feel like i wrote it
