“sO, TELL ME ABOUT LAST NIGHT"…”

MEET ME AT 9:05

AFTER 6 YEARS, 4 ALBUMS AND A CINEMATIC UNIVERSE LATER, CHAMPION RETURNS WITH HIS DEBUT ALBUM, MEET ME AT 9:05. CONCEPT: THE SKIT INTRODUCES OUR MAIN PROTAGONISTS, MARTY HALL AND OLIVER OAKS AS THEY MEET EACH OTHER AT FRANK’S DINER AND DRIVE-IN AND DISCUSS THE NIGHT BEFORE.

DIRECTORS COMMENTARY: IT’S CRAZY, YOU’D THINK THAT THIS BEING THE FIRST TRACK ON THE ALBUM, I WOULD HAVE MADE THIS FIRST, BUT NOPE, THIS WAS TRACK 30. YES, 30. IT’S NAMED AFTER THE MAIN PROTAGONIST OF THE FILM “BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY’S”, HOLLY GOLIGHTLY. IT’S NAMED AFTER HER BECAUSE OF THE SETTING OF A DINER, PLUS IT REFERS TO THE GIRLS THAT THE BOYS ARE WAITING FOR, AS THEIR DAMAGED RICH GIRLS. PLUS, IT IMMEDIATELY STARTS THE CINEMATIC REFERENCES FOUND THROUGHOUT THE ALBUM

INFRARED VISIONS (FEAT. THE BLACK ROSE HOTEL BAND)

LINES

[Verse 1: Everett Champion]
LAST NIGHT, YOU WAS ON THAT REAL SHIT
THE WAY YOU WALKING, WONDER CAN YOU FEEL SHIT?
LAST NIGHT, YOU WERE TRIPPING OUT REAL QUICK
THOUGHTS IN YOUR MIND, BUT YOU COULDN’T CONCEAL SHIT
LAST NIGHT, I COULD SEE YOU AS A VISION
I WAS DEEP LIKE INCISION, I WAS IN BETWEEN WOMEN
LAST NIGHT, I WAS FEELING REAL DIFFERENT
FROM YOUR HAND ON MY CHEST TO THE DRINKS WE SIPPING
LAST NIGHT, MET WE EACH OTHER IN COSTUME
MASK ON, DRUNK SO I THOUGHT I LOST YOU
LAST NIGHT, YEAH I WONDER WHAT IT COST YOU
BUT YOU WERE TRYNA GET HIGH AS THE TOP ROOM
LAST NIGHT, YOU WERE RIGHT IN YOUR ELEMENT
HAIR DONE, LOOKING SO DAMN ELEGANT
LAST NIGHT, I WAS ANYTHING BUT DELICATE
RED LIPSTICK ON MY ARM FOR THE SENTIMENT

[PRE-HOOK: THE BLACK ROSE HOTEL BAND]
Ooh girl I know I’m just a stranger
This is war but I’ll keep you out of danger
Got a beat, but I gotta get your name first
Take a shot, I got one up in the chamber

[Hook: Everett Champion]
I can see you in the red dress
Can I get you on my bed set?
We can make a mess bet, can you be my best yet?
Red dot, head shot, infrared, yeah

[Verse 2: Everett Champion]
Last night, when I found your tight lips
Shirt barely on, hoping that it might slip
Last night, in the dark till that light flicks
Right on your thigh, while my left on your right hip
Last night, lipstick on my white tee
Public high-key, sipping wine like priests
Last night, told me everything we might be
Drunkenly spilling out that you like me
Last night, couldn’t count when you pour up
Both 19, no one need to grow up
Last night, when I saw you on your 4th cup
And everything changed as I got close up
Last night, girl your mind was a mess
Got a little yes, now it’s time to undress
Last night, you were dying for less
And I’m tryna to relieve you of crying and stress
Last night, you were all on my lap
Found out this morning there’s marks on my back
Last night, girl our hearts were attached
This morning I’m wishing for all of that back
Last night, you barely fit in your outfit
Drink in your hand, love how that mouth sip
Last night was electric, outlet
5 drinks in, but I ain’t tap out yet
Last night, I was warmer than a fur coat
Your face all red from your Merlot
Last night, yeah I let it be her show
Gave it up quick, you the opposite of Virgo
Last night, girl your thighs were a heat wave
Look her in the eyes, nah I can’t behave
Last night, was a vibe I could replay
Lipstick on my neck for the keepsake

[Pre-Hook: The Black Rose Hotel Band]
Ooh girl I know I’m just a stranger
This is war but I’ll keep you out of danger
Got a beat, but I gotta get your name first
Take a shot, I got one up in the chamber

[Hook: Everett Champion]
I can see you in the red dress
Can I get you on my bed set?
We can make a mess bet, can you be my best yet?
Red dot, head shot, infrared, yeah

[Bridge: The Black Rose Hotel Band]
Ooh take a shot, take a shot with ya
Ooh take a shot, take a shot with ya
Ooh take a shot, take a shot, would you
Mind if I tried to make you my ride or die
Ooh take a shot, take a shot with ya
Ooh take a shot, take a shot with ya
Ooh take a shot, take a shot would you
Mind if I tried to make you my ride or die

CONCEPT: the song details the pursuit of a woman while attending a house party and how important that moment can feel to a teenager

DIRECTORS COMMENTARY: i’ve never been more proud of a song. this was the first song written for mma, and it was originally a woozy, slow, rnb song, but when i heard the beat for this, i completely reworked the entire song and decided this was the song that i want to be remembered for. the original didn’t even have a hook, imagine that. the choir is one of the coolest things to me, it’s made up of all of my singing friends and every single voice was recorded individually, yes you read that right, all 9 vocals were done solo. don’t get me going with the sax solo, i met john who plays the sax at the ryerson campus pub at an open mic, he played “careless whisper” arguably my favourite song. i went up to him after his set while he went for a cigarette in the snow, pitched him the song, got his email and months later, i got a loose mp3 file, and he did it all in one take. Lastly, i was super inspired by “GUILLOTINE” by jon bellion when it came to the pre-hook, i loved the wordplay and symbolism he used and wanted to emulate that by using terms of war, guns and shooting, weirdly enough casue the song is about hooking up with a girl

“so, tell me about last night…”

Lost in translation (feat. iSABELLA VILLENEUVE)

LINES

[Verse 1: Everett Champion]
We ain’t ever met, but I see you every day
Always drifting off, yeah always need a break
See you like me, I can see it in your face
But you always in a rush like you bout to flee the case
Nervous as hell, when I asked you for a date
Chilling at a café, while we escaping the rain
Always eating well, I can tell by your shape
Talking about movies over coffee and crepes
Yeah it’s cold, so you gotta put that mink on
Low-key made a move, get our fling on
Merlot in your apartment, get your drink on
Get the bottle flowing, like we just turned the sink on
It’s all planned, what you really gotta think on
Model girl, taking trips to Milan
Tight curl, girl you live at the salon
Like my hearts strings, why you always gotta pull on?
Looking like you shop at Urban Outfitters
Messing with a Champion, now you around winners
Talk about it later, so then how about dinner?
Turtleneck ready for when we’re around winter
Your outfit complimenting with your red hair
Make my words disappear outta thin air
Living in the city girl, yeah you mighta been scared
Hate sleeping alone, so baby you can take care

[Hook: Isabella Villeneuve]
I really wonder what your name is
Looking at you wondering where’s my placement
Can I get you on a first name basis
Can we get dinner and I’ll ask how your day is
But you can’t communicate
You don’t know what you do to me
And all you ever choose to say, is nothing
Baby cause I’m lost
Baby cause I’m lost
I’m lost in translation

[Verse 1: Everett Champion]
You remind me of the fall, probably 6 feet tall
Ain’t got no protocol, can’t blame the alcohol
Skin colder than Montreal, it’s written up on the walls
Ain’t got your number yet, but I’m waiting for you to call
Looking like the 90’s
Hair flowing like Poison Ivy’s
Or maybe just like Hermiones
A modern day Aprodite
Your body always excite me
Maybe we meet tonight, we
Wake up tomorrow morning with nothing on but a white tee
I need you to like me, your perfect and I’m impressed
Lighting incense, and we let the night commence
Never have to be convinced, I’ve never been on the fence
Maybe we can get intense, everything you say doesn’t make sense
From a different city, but we right here
Condo to the sky, you can feel the height here
My dear, got a idea that you might hear
Got a room up on campus, you can spend the night here
You a model so you used to leaving with dry tears
Waking up late, like damn your rides here
Whisper dirty thoughts all up into my ear
Left in a hurry, you forgot your tights here
But don’t stress, come and meet me for a drink
In the hotel bar, where we all go to think
And the way you talk, I feel we in sync
Always on the move, like you gone in a blink
Now you gotta man, with a job and a plan
And he’s taking photos, you always got a tan
Happened to meet, but no one would understand
We can treat Yonge and Dundas like the streets of Japan

[Hook: Isabella Villeneuve]
I really wonder what your name is
Looking at you wondering where’s my placement
Can I get you on a first name basis
Can we get dinner and I’ll ask how your day is
But you can’t communicate
You don’t know what you do to me
And all you ever choose to say, is nothing
Baby cause I’m lost
Baby cause I’m lost
I’m lost in translation

CONCEPT: the song details wanting to talk to someone but not being able to, whether it be a LANGUAGE barrier or simply not being close to that person

DIRECTORS COMMENTARY: the original beat i wrote this song to heavily sampled “high highs to low lows” by lolo zouaï, but due to sample problems, i searched for a beat that had a similar tone and bpm. i wrote the song about a girl from one of my first year university classes, i thought she was very beautiful but had no way to talk to her, she was just a girl in my class. I had no idea what her voice even sounded like, and knew that if i tried to talk to her, she would look at me like i was speaking another language. also, i was super inspired by “desole” by rejjie snow for the french-tone used

“sO, TELL ME ABOUT LAST NIGHT"…”

no vacancy

LINES

[Verse: Everett Champion]
Locked doors, and open feelings
High as hell, reaching the ceiling
Ain’t no games, no time for healing
Drunk as hell, wonder how you dealing
We met back in the land of the faces
The youth oasis and changing phases
Grip your wrist just like a bracelet
PND is all on the playlist
Walk to the bathroom, than I get at you
See it, I need it, I swear that I had to
I’mma go off like I’m stuck in a bad move
Falling in love? Hold up, let me catch you
I know you do tricks like Cirque De Soleil
You take a sip of that classic Rosé
Get on your knees, I know you don't pray
So get in Formation, you feeling like Bey
Yeah, we need some time to relax
We need to kick it and those are the facts
Bring the volume up to a max
Cigarillo’s, we can go through some packs
Lights are low and it's time to go
It’s all business, but we fly in coach
Just us, for this private show
She took my hand, where you trying to go?
What you crying for? Cause he let you down
You left the town, and he slept around
It’s just us, there's no pressure now
You locked the door, there's no question now
Put down your phone, let's stop the games
I’m getting dimes like pocket change
I’m on the way, and she’s on the Grey
And I know what she wanna say
There's no

[Hook: Everett Champion & Sophi DeLuca]
No Vacancy
Close the door so they cant see
No Vacancy
I know you waiting so patiently
No Vacancy
Wonder what drugs you’d take for me
Wonder what you’re gonna shake for me
You move that body so gracefully
There's no
No Vacancy
Close the door so they cant see
No Vacancy
I know you waiting so patiently
No Vacancy
Wonder what drugs you’d take for me
Wonder what you’re gonna shake for me
You move that body so gracefully

[Verse: Everett Champion]
Your friends just texted your phone
You told them that we were alone
Both of us already thrown
I can tell just by your tone
That you ready to go, I’m here for a reason
Clothes falling off, yeah we change like the season
Take it real slow, yeah we just ease in
Body is freezing, and you start seizing
Met you back up in the kitchen, the colours switching and
People are bitching, but look in my eyes, you see this ambition
Taking you down is my only mission, just give me permission
Both at this party, feel like politicians
Your shoes are Christian, my drinks are mixing
You looking different, think it just kicked in, think that I’m tripping
I'm starting to feel it, no I never regret it
This moment can happen, as long as you let it
I’ll never forget it, that moment you said it
You cut your man out of the pic, like an edit
That’s cold as ice, my only vice
That I’m here for you, but only for the night
Perfect drink, you poured it right
We go together like Coors and Lite
And I never thought I’d be scoring you
Crash like waves at Port Dalhouse
Sit on the sink, while I’m holding you
But I’m just a guy who can't hold his goose
Now we get lit like we started a match
You over there, and you arching your back
I guess I’m a dog, I bark and I scratch
We both wearing nothing, we starting to match

[Hook: Everett Champion & Sophi DeLuca]
No Vacancy
Close the door so they cant see
No Vacancy
I know you waiting so patiently
No Vacancy
Wonder what drugs you’d take for me
Wonder what you’re gonna shake for me
You move that body so gracefully
There's no
No Vacancy
Close the door so they cant see
No Vacancy
I know you waiting so patiently
No Vacancy
Wonder what drugs you’d take for me
Wonder what you’re gonna shake for me

Glitter on the counter

CONCEPT: the song details ending up in a secluded place with someone at a party and wanting to hook up with them in private

DIRECTORS COMMENTARY: this song is the oldest one on the project, it was originally going to end up on “out for the night” but felt that it didn’t match that vibe enough. i always thought the “redbone from a bathroom at a party” meme and was somewhat inspired by that to make this song. The idea for the knocking during the hook came to nico and i while on our way to an album listening party in 2018. also this has one of my favourite references, the outro is a reference to “love shack” by the b-52’s and i love that it’s hidden in an rnb, rap song

“sO, TELL ME ABOUT LAST NIGHT"…”

airplane mode (feat. valerie)

LINES

[Verse 1: Everett Champion]
Airplane mode, no way for texting
Across the pond, that French connection
Postcards, got a big collection
International from the crescent
Yeah, been gone for 5 minutes
Sending paragraphs until the wifi finish
Bank account like my love, no limit
Cigarettes lit for when you come visit
Off in the tunnels, I'll text when I can
Normandy beaches, my feet in the sand
Marry you here, yeah that is the plan
In the hotel, making movies in Cannes
Woke up in London, now I’m in Paris
Bring you back here with champagne on the terrace
Hit a café, get some coffee and cherish
Nights in the city, until we both parish

[Pre-Hook: Valerie]
I’m nowhere near as high as I could be at home with you
Search through my phone for you
Got a picture of just of us two, do you look at it too?
Better the sky line view
It’s true

[Hook: Everett Champion & Valerie]
All I see is blue
All I see is you
All I see is the perfect couple
And that's us two
When I disable my phone
You know I ain't home
I been missing you babe, I’m in
I'm in airplane mode
Airplane mode
Airplane mode
Do you look at it too? Better than the skyline view
It's true

[Verse 2: Everett Champion]
Swim in the sea, off the coast of Capri
Could live here forever, I’m for a week
Chianti Classico whenever we eat
Gelato on cheeks, you kiss it so sweet
We gotta suite, now you falling in love with me
Just a guitar and a couple like Tuscany
You looking lovely, sipping that bubbly
Visit my family, I’m bringing some company
Sip on a glass, we sit and we laugh
Stories bout family, we listen in fact
We just start dancing, ain’t skipping a track
Like the Ponte-Vecchio, I’m bridging the gap
Grandpa came here with no money in pocket
Learned to adapt, and created some options
Started a business, and then he made profit
He took some chances, and look how he got it

[Pre-Hook: Valerie]
I’m nowhere near as high as I could be at home with you
Search through my phone for you
Got a picture of just of us two, do you look at it too?
Better the sky line view
It’s true

[Hook: Everett Champion & Valerie]
All I see is blue
All I see is you
All I see is the perfect couple
And that's us two
When I disable my phone
You know I ain't home
I been missing you babe, I’m in
I'm in airplane mode
Airplane mode
Airplane mode
Do you look at it too? Better than the skyline view

CONCEPT: the song details the feelings of missing someone and wanting to be with them again

DIRECTORS COMMENTARY: i’ve had the concept of this song for years, i actually wrote the original song in 2014, but the only similarity is the name, concept and the hook. my family and i vacation often and i constantly have to disable my phone to avoid getting long distance charges, so being on airplane mode is nothing new to me, but i still hate it. also, my grandfather passed away in the making of this album, and i wanted to dedicate the song to him. i took out some bars about myself, and decided to end the 2nd verse about him, and how he came to canada from italy and started a business and family. originally, there was going to be an italian poem spoken by him for the bridge, but after he passed, i decided i would comb through years of voicemails and put together a message from him that will always live on. at the time of writing this, my family hasn’t heard that part yet.

“sO, TELL ME ABOUT LAST NIGHT"…”

table 42 (feat. sophi deluca)

LINES

[Verse 1: Everett Champion]
Baby tell me what’s the topic
Tell me bout your fam, and your trips to the tropics
Do you smoke chronic? Partake in the gossip?
Or do you focus on putting money in your wallet
Your skin probably matches your tiles, porcelain
The sun is scorching, you got a fortune
Always in shape, you control your portions
I put her on the door like she want some Morrison
Tell me about your girls, tell me about your friends
Got a black card, tell me how you much you spend
Tell me how you never, go and follow trends
Just like your drink, baby we can just blend
We hit the quad, lay on the grass
Tell me your future, and all of your past
Do you drink fast? How long we gon last?
Eyes on your lips, but I’m staring at that ass
Can you blame me? Babe, can you tame me?
Going out for ice cream, steady give me brain freeze
Do I gotta chance of you calling me baby?
I’m focused, yeah tthe cold wind can’t phase me
Tell me bout your life, tell me bout your hometown
You like it fast? Or want me to slow down?
Call you my girl, but you calling me profound
If you wanna leave, oh God I'm so down

[Hook: Sophi DeLuca]
Out for coffee, and you looking so elegant
The way you sip your drink is so delicate
I’ll take you places, I know you never been
Keep on going baby, talking for the hell of it

[Verse 2: Everett Champion]
Here’s a little bout me
Only 19, and the dream so free
Really not sure who I am, who I be
But I want enough money, I can live by the sea
I’m from a city that’s across the lake
Move out here, that’s all it takes
Feel like I waste time if I’m not awake
Write songs about life when I need a break like right now
And I feel like a novice
All my friends moved away across the province
Now I'm in the city and I'm making progress
I knew this shit will happen, I just trust the process
Yeah I gotta focus on that shit
Cause to you, I’m only as good as my last shit
Dorm room vibes, focusing on my passions
Cause girls come and go like fashion
I moved away, just to do me
And every night feels like I made a movie
Being in the city, might have made my mood deep
But let me be positive, let the truth bleed
And every girl I meet, well I think they right one
Everybody got a soul mate, I’m trying to find one
If I graduate single, probably think my times up
You’re only 19, chill you got time son
I know, but I’m always searching
For the next girl, she ain’t gotta be perfect
She's right for me, not any other person
Could spend my time looking but I'm writing these verses
Put them to a song, all facts, no lies
For those long 5th Avenue summer drives
Wake up with a message as the lipstick dries
Come and meet me at 9:05

[Hook: Sophi DeLuca]
Out for coffee, and you looking so elegant
The way you sip your drink is so delicate
I’ll take you places, I know you never been
Keep on going baby, talking for the hell of it
People looking our way, we don’t mind it
She brought the cheque out, but I won’t sign it
I’ll get another one, if I’m in the mood
At this private conversation, we got a table for 2

CONCEPT: the song details the conversations and nervousness that occur during a first date out for coffee. the first verse details the questions one has for their date, while the second verse deails the information one gives out about themselves

DIRECTORS COMMENTARY: WHEN I LANDED ON THE IDEA OF THE ALBUM TAKING PLACE AT A DINER, I KNEW I WANTED A SONG THAT SOUNDED LIKE A BUSY, JAZZY DINER. i wrote the song in 2017 as i was in my first year of university and going on a bunch of first dates, there’s a little bit of each conversation that i had sprinkled throughout the verses. plus, the title is a play on the phrase “table for two”… get it..? for two… 42…?

“sO, TELL ME ABOUT LAST NIGHT"…”

high notes (feat. nico tk & sophi deluca)

LINES

[Hook: Nico TK & Sophi DeLuca]
Baby you can hit them, high notes
Conduct your body like a maestro
Drive me crazy, got me psycho
Baby when you hit them high notes
Got me lifted, writing high notes
And then you sing it baby mind blown
Cause you on fire baby, pyro
Baby when you hit those high notes

[Verse 1: Everett Champion]
High pitch, you elevated
Bring it out, let's celebrate it
Both single, let's complicate it
Let's navigate it, let’s not debate it
Your short hair, and those Levi jeans
Ain’t it hard, just being teens
Never be an X, no CNE
Broke onto the scene like a BNE
We happened to meet, at the open mics
Instantly fell for you, over night
High off you, but I’m sober right?
Caught you off guard but you so polite
Making beats with you in the mirror
When the world is clouded, you make it clear
Mutual friend, let’s make it weird
That’s music to my ears
In love your vocals, girl I’m so hopeful
Not from this city, but I feel like a local
We can be alone, we ain’t gotta be social
A voice like that, girl you could be a mogul
We in the city, no college town
Take a listen, how soft it sounds
Think about you, too often now
But that’s low-key, two octaves down

[Hook: Nico TK & Sophi DeLuca]
Baby you can hit them, high notes
Conduct your body like a maestro
Drive me crazy, got me psycho
Baby when you hit them high notes
Got me lifted, writing high notes
And then you sing it baby mind blown
Cause you on fire baby, pyro
Baby when you hit those high notes

[Verse 2: Everett Champion]
Hitting them high notes
Frozen like cryo
Slide into the Insta, checking on your bio
Wonder if you single, yeah I got high hopes
I’mma take a chance, like I'm running on a tight rope
Waist so small, and your voice so soft
Covering The Weeknd, singing in my loft
I’m so lost, but I’m trying get ya home
It’s all mine, on time like a metronome
You pick the song, and I listen
These feelings such a transition
Play some music, and we start kissing
In my head, but that’s what I’m missing
Wishing that, you ain’t been spoken for
Voice in my ear, that's what I’m hoping for
Go slow, I don’t wanna strain your vocal chords
Let’s do round 2, we can go for more like

[Hook: Nico TK & Sophi DeLuca]
Baby you can hit them, high notes
Conduct your body like a maestro
Drive me crazy, got me psycho
Baby when you hit them high notes
Got me lifted, writing high notes
And then you sing it baby mind blown
Cause you on fire baby, pyro
Baby when you hit those high notes

“sO, TELL ME ABOUT LAST NIGHT"…”

on the rocks

LINES

[Verse 1: Everett Champion]
Catch me in a house way bigger than I need
With a family to feed and a past full of greed
With a new whip that I always got to speed
Cause I worked my ass off just to get it and succeed
Lawn out front, yeah it's green as the planet
Front hall stairs looking like the Titanic
Fine little ting, yeah prolly Hispanic
On the balcony blowing organic
Porcelain floors, yeah they cold when you feel
Beautiful when they connect with her heel
Curtains draped down, yeah I think that they teal
Is it real? Rose gold champagne with every meal
Interior flawless, wife so gorgeous
Always in shape, think I married a goddess
Met her in college, now we living so thoughtless
Speeding in my whip, so she and the roof topless
Counter always spotless, maid got hired
Hoodies and marshmallows out by the fire
World spinning yeah just like my tires
I'm living the dream, never plan to retire
Italiano flow, with a biscotti on the side
Take the caddy out the shop when my shorty wanna drive
Always in my room they thinking, God is he alive?
But the way I make hits they think that Gotti is alive
Fall asleep on the roof after watching the stars
With my silk shirt still smelling like cigars
This is worth more than money and the cars
Cause I didn’t back down when I was handed my cards

[Pre-Hook: Claudia Coppola & Victoria Jones]
On the rocks
Baby we on the rocks
We drinking on the rocks
Baby I want a lot

[Hook: Everett Champion, Claudia Coppola & Victoria Jones]
We don’t take pictures when you’re rich, we just see it again
You were always there when I needed a friend
My love, and this is all I want
Always been working for a key and Benz
A little spot by the Seine, is where I’ll be in the end
My love
That’s how we gon live
But right now we just kids

[Verse 2: Everett Champion]
Yo
Life is but a dream
This is everything I need
Flying PJ till we both go to sleep
Everything we eat, imported, we important
Everyone asking about the shit we sporting
And I work the long nights, you brought the sunshine
I make the hits, that’s what I call a punchline
You sleep until it’s lunchtime, I’m up to get working
I was buying business’s while you were soul searching
I am so certain, make a million versions
Accolades are great but I’d rather put the work in
I’d rather put the time in, instead of buying diamonds
Put them in the safe cause my girl’s already shining
I’d rather just fly in, first class, faded off my third glass
Tennessee whiskey, my cigars don’t burn fast
I got a yacht on the docks
Marriage ain’t like drinks, what I got on the rocks
Every deal I every made, yeah they offer a lot
Yeah I grow from advice, cause I’ve gotten a lot
But they still sleeping on me, ambien hits
Check my bracket, bought a yacht, now that’s a championship

[Pre-Hook: Claudia Coppola & Victoria Jones]

We drinking on the rocks
Baby I want a lot

[Verse 3: Everett Champion]
Working with a purpose, everything is planned
Except when I drink, all I wanna do is dance
The young visionary, I guess that’s my brand
Wedding out in Rome, our reception in France
Damn
Hit the Honeymoon Suite at the Black Rose
A little pink champagne at the chateau
I can’t handle myself, you in that pose
In that little red dress, where the back shows
We can fly away in my Delorean
That’s the same spot, that I’ll probably tell my story in
To my kids, chilling out till like 4am
Cause they the new edition whenever my story end
But I need the world to remember me
I made my future, by reminiscing on memories
So rest in peace, cause his mind was a treasury
That’s why I do this, my music is still my legacy
And we don’t take pictures when you’re rich
We just see it again
Woo!

CONCEPT: the song details where i want to be when i am 40-50, after i’ve acquired the money, fame and love that i’ve been searching for my whole career.

DIRECTORS COMMENTARY: this is one of my favourite songs i’ve ever made, it sounds like daniel caesar meets “suit and tie” justin timberlake. the female vocals in the hook literally give me chills, they’re so sweet and lush, ugh claudia and victoria snapped. i wrote the song back in the summer of 2018 while chilling with kris kelly, we made a song called “where ya going?” and that’s where the first verse of this song came from. once i found this beat a year later, i took my verse from “where ya going?”, and it hit the bpm perfectly. WHEN IT CAME TO THE HOOK, I TOOK THis “WE DON’T TAKE PICTURES” LINE FROM A CHILDISH GAMBINO sway in the morning FREESTYLE THAT I’VE ALWAYS LOVED, THANKS DONALD, raps fans will know what i’m talking about

CONCEPT: THE SKIT DETAILS MARTY’S EXPERIENCES FROM THE NIGHT BEFORE AS A SOUNDSCAPE SURRONDS THE LISTENER BRINGS THEM INTO THE NIGHT BEFORE. IT ALSO GIVES OLIVER’S PERSPECTIVE ON HIS GIRLFRIEND AND HOW SHE COMPLICATES HIS LIFE

DIRECTORS COMMENTARY: THIS SKIT WAS SUPER FUN TO CREATE, I REALLY ENJOYED DOING FOLEY WORK FOR “AESTHETIC SOUND” WAY BACK IN 2016, AND I FELT LIKE I WAS BACK HOME RECORDING THAT PROJECT WHILE MAKING THIS. I WANTED TO CREATE AN EXPERIENCE THAT WOULD TRANSITION FROM SIDE A TO SIDE B BY GIVING BOTH CHARACTERS A MONOLOGUE AND A BROAD EXAMPLE OF THEIR PERSPECTIVES ON THE GIRLS IN THEIR LIVES. ALSO, THERE’S A COOL LITTLE REFERENCE TO “DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES” HIDDEN IN OLIVER’S MONOLOGUE. LAST THING, YOU SHOULD HAVE SEEN MY FACE WHEN THIS FIRST TRANSITIONED TO VSCO, I LOST MY SHIT.

LINES

[Intro: Everett Champion]
Yeah
Yeah
Yeah

[Hook: Stevie Davis & NICO TK]
She don’t feel the love, she just feel the likes
They just enough to keep her energized
When I see her on my feed, I be like me oh my
I wonder what she feel inside
An angel on the gram, broken halo on VSCO
Why’s your shit on priv with a link in your bio
I just seen it all, all it took is one click though
That’s just how it happens on VSCO

[Verse 1: Everett Champion]
Yo
Swim suit living like we crashed at sea
Pics so addictive, like crack to me
Ain’t would it should yeah, it’s what it has to be
I'mma pin her on the wall like a masterpiece
Say that ass ain’t the greatest, that’s blasphemy
When she walking away, it ain’t a tragedy
In high demand, if you asking me
And I mean I come late, but only fashionably
Got your lingerie, all on my screen
Take a shot when you on the scene
I mean constantly, you lack honesty
That photography is for all to see
You a pro don’t stop
You been switching up on that Photoshop
Oh you say that you going solo? Stop
Who the hell is gonna get your soho chopped?
And your phone won’t stop
Like flash, bring it back, every guy trying to smash
Made a mill, take some pills, keep it all up in your stash
I'mma take a dip, don’t trip, lemme splash
Cause I’m out for the night, but tonight won’t last
Ain’t it pathetic? Not sympathetic
Sent you a message, like when can I get it?
Order your page, by colour aesthetic
Your sister is bad, so it must be genetic
Calling me daddy, smash in a Caddy
Skirt with a baddy, up to the addy
Her name was Gabby, maybe it’s Maddy
Ashley? Either way she threw it at me
That amount of likes just built her
She rose gold with no silver
That liquor got her off kilter
Her life is all just a filter

[Hook: Stevie Davis & NICO TK]
She don’t feel the love, she just feel the likes
They just enough to keep her energized
When I see her on my feed, I be like me oh my
I wonder what she feel inside
An angel on the gram, broken halo on VSCO

[Verse 2: Kris Kelly]
Hop on that black and white
To peep what shit is tight
Fat asses lookin' more than alright
It's not a hunt man, it's more like a fight
Cop some tings then I take a flight
Got the flash on cause it's at night
Why is you playing? Body ain't forsaken
Still photos yet they twerkin' they shaken
Could be Insta models, wonder how much they're making
Wonder how many got the filters on be faking
Posted in Paris it's taken
No need to imagine these girls naked
And I love it, not above it
Finger stays scrolling, tuck it away in public
This is that not for your mom shit
Not safe for work clip
Like a hit man, double tap and make it flip
See the toilet at the party, I'm all sick
These girls got a man, who's this?
Coulda given me a damn tip before I gave it to your damn bitch
I guess that's just how it is
Republished a pic now she's all on my dick
Shit ooo VSCO's lit, shit ooo VSCO's lit

[Verse 3: K Double D]
Yeah
Posting up snaps, eyes doing laps
Dark brown eyes, caption all caps
Good for the day but she out for the night
Serving that cake and she down for the white
These girls go the extra mile
Showing ass all upon the bathroom tile
And she know KD, she call me Kyle
But I ain't free now she call me vile
And I like that but I don't like you
Get your Snapchat with a nice view
Way you back that now I think I might do
Way I rap this, I can entice you
Bassline just like her face contoured
Living life, space time like I’m on tour
I don’t like to waste time, no FaceTime
Ugh, I don’t make time
Call me when it’s cake time
Cover girl with the matte lip
Fact is she a girl with the fat hips
Take time cause she know where the cash is
On live cause she ain't really passive
Yeah, yeah
Hold back, throw back cause you miss those
4 bars every night like Cisco
Make every man wanna come and kiss those
Wake days, live at night on VSCO

DIRECTORS COMMENTARY: HMM, where do i start with vsco… this is the one man. this song literally built itself, originally i wrote it about a girl that i found on vsco from my hometown. i showed what i had to nico, kris and kyle and we all decided we would make it a big group record, and then we found stevie. stevie is an illusive guy, but damn when i did lock a studio session down with him, he snapped… and we never saw him again… also we dedicated the song and music video to that girl from my hometown and i’m still waiting on a response

CONCEPT: the song details the life of short-lived, wild life of a party girl who is caught a destructive lifestyle

DIRECTORS COMMENTARY: i wrote this song to a whole different beat. the original was a slow, dramatic song that was gonna feature a bunch of female voices singing a much slower hook. at the time, the only other banger on the album was vsco, so i thought to rework it into high-energy track. i also wanted a song that would be easy for crowds to learn, so by changing the tone of it, it allowed me to bring a level of interactivity to my shows.

“sO, TELL ME ABOUT LAST NIGHT"…”

shot for me

LINES

[Verse 1: Everett Champion]
I know you getting a little bored, never going through phases
Same stories, same life, you swear it never changes
When that moment that you walked in
And we started talking, you know this wouldn’t stop and
You hit me up, saying that you wanted a copy
Of my new EP, and that you wouldn’t stop me
If I went and made a move, you would certainly approve
There is nothing that I would have to prove
He was in the same room, when it all went down
But somehow he hasn’t figured it all out
Hasn’t noticed in the halls
Or our late night calls
Like “hello”, not at all like
("Hello”, not at all like)
Late night texts turned to late night snapping
You probably never thought this would ever happen
But when he screws up, and you need a break
Just hit me up, there's no risk that I won't take like
I don’t know (I don't know)
Just let it go (Let it go)
You just wanna drink, wanna dance, wanna smoke (Smoke)
And yeah, you feel so different when you talk to me
But when’s he's acting up
Take a shot, shot, shot for me

[Hook: Everett Champion]
I know all she tells him is lies
I can see it when I look into her eyes
I’m the one when he barely ever tries
How we gon do this, you can decide
Yeah, she got a secret inside
That’s me, on the way once she replied
Man left the house, so you know I'm 'bout to slide
Forget about pride, yeah I’m always on the side

[Verse 2: Everett Champion]
You've been looking through my windows, hit my phone up all the time
Yeah we kicking it, we been low, yeah she always wanna to grind
And I know there's too many, I know there's another
But I've been sneaking in, with your girl, like under cover
Then I brought her under covers, now I'm in this situation
Cause she knows, we know, you want retaliation
I ain't that type of guy, so when you ask me why
I gotta take a second, I don't know to reply
Guess that I was on the side
Thought it was worth a try
And now I'm front and center, and have to explain my
Actions, and my intentions
She stay after class for detentions
And she finishes every sentence
And she listen on the low
Sorry you had to learn this way, but you needed to know
That I'm in your place now, I won’t even leave a note
Yeah I’m in your place now, and you didn’t even know like
I don’t know (I don't know)
Just let it go (Let it go)
You just wanna drink, wanna dance, wanna smoke (Smoke)
And yeah, you feel so different when you talk to me
But when’s he's acting up
Take a shot, shot, shot for me

[Hook: Everett Champion]
I know all she tells him is lies
I can see it when I look into her eyes
I’m the one when he barely ever tries
How we gon do this, you can decide
Yeah, she got a secret inside
That’s me, on the way once she replied
Man left the house, so you know I'm 'bout to slide
Forget about pride, yeah I’m always on the side

[Verse 3: Everett Champion]
She get a blunt and then she light it up
Take all my experiences, then I write 'em up
Hit the booth, then I drop 'em on the next day
So when you with your girl chilling, and you press play (Press play)
Know that I'm speaking to you
Look her in the eyes, know I'm speaking the truth
And I mean speaking of you, you know your wasting your time
And she’s basically mine, and you been taking your time
You know where to find me, yeah I been near you
Come to my house, your girl will be here too
Young Leonardo, try catch if you can
Gotta a band, gotta plan, but she ain’t gotta man
You ain't noticed she’s been different whenever you are alone?
You haven’t noticed my number up in her phone?
You never know what's happening behind close doors
Any girl in the world, but I went and chose yours
God damn

CONCEPT: the song details the pursuit of a woman that is already with another guy, and the ego that comes along with that pursuit

DIRECTORS COMMENTARY: oddly enough, this song was originally a slow and sultry rnb song with a few rap verses, but once i found this beat, i knew i had to go in. i wrote the song after i visited an art exhibit / performance and started talking a girl that was friends with mine. we chatted and flirted during and after the event for a few weeks, little did i know that she had a boyfriend. we ended it after that, but the thought and feelings of “what if i was this kind of guy and didn’t care she had a boyfriend” always stayed with me

july 29th (feat. isabella villeneuve)

LINES

[Verse 1: Everett Champion]
I took a shot, but I left it in the holster
I'm hung on you like all my posters
Never felt closer, now I’m driving sober (Driving sober)
Hit you up every day, like I am supposed to
But I feel like, you don’t know my name (Know my name)
And all those texts, don't go the same
Stuck in your games, but I chose to play (Chose to play)
When you crying at home, am I supposed to say
That "I'm sorry" cause I'm not, cause I did nothing wrong
He was the jerk, I'm just writing these songs
He was the one that dumped you before prom
And after it all well, you still go along (You go along, yeah)
I know that I'm a nice guy, and you don't deserve me
(You don't deserve me, you don't deserve me)
I hear it all the time, but why does it still hurt me
If I'm the best why does it get worse see
Sometimes I wonder if my first ex cursed me

[Verse 2: Everett Champion]
I caught a vibe, but I do it too often
Infatuated whenever you start talking
Pull up to the spot, unlock, as you hop in
Drive around the city, green light, no stopping
Heart has broken, but you ain't hit me back (Back)
But 4 nights ago, well you basically snapped (Snapped)
You asked if my basement was vacant in fact (Fact)
But after it all, you still made it back (Back)
I've said it once, and I'll say it again (Say it again)
I'm ready to not be your friend
But if you still want to pretend
Like no baggage is present, no drama to send
But I can’t tell your feelings, decipher your tone
But driving alone, put you right in your zone
Nervous as hell, car smell like cologne
And it starts to rain as I’m driving you home
I swear that we actually might
And somehow you still mad at me right?
Driving alone on these Saturday nights
And I’m not going out, but my battery might
We gotta a month, why wouldn’t we try
Maybe because you were scared you and I
Would actually work, and we'd say goodbye
When August is over and the flowers would die
Writing bout you, and I don’t know why
Writing the truth, but you’d say it was lies
Moved away, yeah you moved onto the new guys
I’ll never forget, July 29th

morning sickness

LINES

[Hook: Everett Champion]
Yeah
Addicted to the hype (Hype)
Always making moves (Moves)
Steady message back, that’s a confidence boost
Can’t tell the truth, cause I'm terrified
Cause there’s always rain when you stay in paradise
Then I wake up (Up)
Then I look over
Marks on my back, lipstick on my shoulder
When I wasn’t sober, you were on my hitlist
Now it’s the morning, all I feel is sickness

[Verse 1: Everett Champion]
Feel like time accelerated, shit move quick and then I hate it
Usually I’m not complaining, but this is just how I paint it
We didn’t come out and say it, I mean I’m patently waiting
You got intentionally faded, so no mistakes can be stated
Don’t know why I’m frustrated, always been motivated
On my path to obtain it, I fear that it’s all been tainted
Guess that I’m aggravated, my feelings so fabricated
I guess this just what happens when we just get isolated
Then she come and stay the night, I gotta pay the price
Lost emotion and I’m hoping that this shit can change my life
But it never ever does, now she think that we in love
Feeling dangerous, but it changes once I’m up (Up)

[Verse 2: Everett Champion]
I get shot down, I get rejected, I feel sick like I’m infected
Every guy knows my perspective, I’m alone, I feel neglected
All these girls, we not connected, no I’ve never been corrected
If she don’t reply at all, then I guess that I have been bested
I go home and feel so reckless, at the party I’m electric
They say no and I respect it, other guys think it’s expected
Shit I messed it, sent a message, texted all my lonely exes
Found they VSCO, I’m detective, hit 'em all, I’m not selective
Cause there's girls that I wish had never moved on
And there’s girls that I should have made a move on
And there’s girls that I wish that I could prove wrong
But the only thing they hear is my new song
Sing it out loud

CONCEPT: the song details the inner feelings one has after a night of bad decisions, in this case failing at picking up a girl and hooking up with the wrong girl

DIRECTORS COMMENTARY: man, shoutout lil peep rip, i loved his punk/rap style and wanted to do something like what he did, and when i heard this beat, i knew i wanted to include it on the album. the song itself just seems frustrated with itself, it’s raw and angry, and that’s how we all feel sometimes. i wrote the song one morning after a string of rejections and failed opportunities with some girls, and one night horrible night. i think the hook is so poetic and slept on, it’s a hard hitting song but lyrically, it really describes the feelings that a lot of guys have but don’t ever talk about. also the video is crazy, we were gonna shoot on the rocks BUT IT RAINED THAT DAY SO WE JUST GRABBED THE CAMERA, PUT GAS IN THE JEEP, DROVE OUT TO THE SUBURBS AND SHOT A FUCKING VIDEO

cabernet on sadder days (feat. k double d and isabella villeneuve)

LINES

[Verse 1: Everett Champion]
Bottles on the tables, drink away the pain
Fingers to the sky as I scream out your name
Bombay for the day, Cognac as it fades
Drinking dark liquor while I'm throwing all this shade
Alone in my room, I be sipping Chardonnay
Hard to say, you ain’t here, drinking on the hottest day
Summer solstice, my old chick has went and got away
You a Queen, but every Queen needs a pawn to play
I hate the way you appear on my timeline
Summertime sadness well you sipping on maitais
Now I’m taking more shots than a drive by
Everyone got vices, tell me if you can find mine
I remember having you, now I’m sipping Absolut
Or Malibu, I'm never making changes like addicts do
No chaser but I’m switching up my attitude
But somehow, I still end up on your avenue

[Hook: Isabella Villeneuve]
There’s something that I have to say
Well I’m faded on that Cabernet
Drifting apart, I’m a castaway
When you left me last Saturday
(Saturday)
I don’t know what to call it
And you look so damn flawless
Sip that Patron, hit up your phone
Addicted to you, yeah I’m alcoholic

[Verse 2: K Double D]
So gone now think I'm seeing spirits
Drink away the pain, drink away the feelings
Drunk calls on your phone I apologize
No ring, know you calling up these other guys
Just a fling, never thought we'd go through troubled times
Bunch of lies when I caught you looking at your lines
Take a sip, feel the drink start to flow up
And I thought you'd be acting like a grown up
Sipping on this whisky, feeling kinda tipsy
Hoping that you miss me, knowing that you miss me
Time is moving slower cause you know just how that wrist be
Throw it back and throw me out, I'm feeling like a Dixie
Still got you as a contact, all caps
Don't got nobody I can talk with to fall back
You know I'm waiting all May for a call back
Then I'll be sipping Bombay 'till it's all black

[Verse 3: K Double D & Everett Champion]
Love can’t handle, sipping Jack Daniels
Feeling sicker, getting liquor on my flannels
Faded an Absinthe, now I’m feeling absent
You addicted, I’m committed to my passion
Now I’m out here pacing, downing all this Jameson
Sipping Malibu, we apart, vacations
Craving for your love, I be craving conversation
It’s amazing, got me waiting like a patient
Feeling ancient, all this liquor is replacing
Every single demon, I be keeping in my basement
All the feelings that I stash, I’ll be faded in a flash
Sipping Bourbon, cause I’m hurting, then I’m swerving and I crash
Cause of you
Now I’m feeling grey, cause I’m sipping on Goose
Finally okay, when I’m mixing with the juice
Got me locked in, like I'm trapped in the booth
Pouring out everything except for the truth

[Hook: Isabella Villeneuve]
There’s something that I have to say
Well I’m faded on that Cabernet
Drifting apart, I’m a castaway
When you left me last Saturday
(Saturday)
I don’t know what to call it
And you look so damn flawless
Sip that Patron, hit up your phone
Addicted to you, yeah I’m alcoholic

[Outro: Isabella Villeneuve]
There’s something that I have to say
Well I’m faded on that Cabernet
Drifting apart, I’m a castaway
When you left me last Saturday
(Saturday)
I don’t know what to call it
And you look so damn flawless
Sip that Patron, hit up your phone
Addicted to you, yeah I’m alcoholic

CONCEPT: the song details the feelings that come with a breakup and the resort to ALCOHOL to solve those feelings

DIRECTORS COMMENTARY: this was one of the first songs kyle and i ever did together. i brought him the idea and based on his rnb / rap mixture, i thought he would bee PERFECT for the song. i remember sitting down in april of 2018 writing this, we pulled up a list of beers, spirits, anything ALCOHOLIC and just wrote lines that rhymed, and ended up withh that third verse, man SHOUTOUT kyle, that dude is a fucking legend

“sO, TELL ME ABOUT LAST NIGHT"…”

freezing rain (feat. kris kelly and valerie)

LINES

[Verse 1: Kris Kelly]
Cold weather but we freeze when we're together
Out of water but I'm still feeling your pressure
Wrapped around me like a tether
When the wind picks up, you blow away like a feather
Reach into my wallet, yeah I grip that leather
Only hope in making your life better
Did what you said, you would never
Crying and complaining but this ain't no open letter
I mean, is this a tie I should sever?
I'm trying to stay neutral but you keep pushing my lever
Heart barren like a desert
Soul's colder than a blizzard
Season's change, past on your brain like a blood stain
You never change your ways, you never change your lane
I always stay the same, evolving in my ways
Your lost, you never stay, you always walk away
You never seen a sunny day
I tired of the games you play
Short but you get in my way
Deaf to what I'm trying to say
I guess that's why I left you in your ways
Standing in the freezing rain

[Pre-Hook: Everett Champion]
Because I’m frozen, I’m hoping
One day I’ll get chosen
I’m broken, I’m open
Just give me a moment, of your time
I thought you would be mine
But as the seasons change
So does your mind

[Hook: Valerie]
Now I step outside and I feel the freezing rain
When you left, I thought that you would be the same
Winter break, now he got you feeling safe
Quick to change, because you shameless
You found my replacement, let’s face it
I’m frozen, I’m hoping
He's not me, he's boring
I’m broken, I’m open
Just give me, a moment, of your time
I thought you would be mine
But as the seasons change
So does your mind

[Verse 2: Everett Champion]
Winter keeps coming, every day Game of Thrones
I’m trying to be there so you ain't alone
Never wanna party, girl you always stayed at home
Wanna bring you with me, I don’t want this fame alone
Come through with some vinyl of your favourite song
I hope you freeze up when you hear this on
Both made mistakes and we played it wrong
But I’m really not sure who to blame it on
But you had to meet some new guy on your vacation
Winter break, could have took a train to your station
I was working on myself, steady getting payment
Just like my drink, never thought you’d be chasing
Talking every day, phone buzzing like I’m famous
I'm not complaining, didn't think I’d be replaced and
I was waiting to see you for a month, I was patient
By the time I got back, you were already taken
Could have gone skating , could have been dating
But you got faded, weed is your fragrance
Could have came through when my bedroom was vacant
You were unique like every snowflake and
Now I can’t take it, nah I can’t fake it
Cold outside, but with him you always naked
Yeah we could have made it, the way that I planned it
Hit me with that iceberg, my heart's Titanic
He had to make a move, had to grip her thighs
Staring at the clock as it’s ticking by
Time slipping by, you different, I
Have to admit, I can’t sympathize
That you with some new guy, and now you in the spotlight
Snow storm so you probably went and lost sight
Of what we had, but I wonder what it cost right?
With that kiss on your skin like a frostbite

[Pre-Hook: Everett Champion]
Because I’m frozen, I’m hoping

[Bridge: Valerie]
Now I step outside (I'm freezing)
Now, now
Now I step outside (I'm freezing)

[Bridge: Valerie and Everett Champion]
Sometimes I get so low
Just cause you left me solo
Down like temperature
You’re cold, so cold, down to the bone
Sometimes I get so low
Just cause you left me solo
Send shivers through my soul
When I heard static through my phone

[Outro: Valerie and Everett Champion]
Oh, woah
Yeah

CONCEPT: the song DETAILS THE FEELING OF HAVING YOUR HEART BROKEN AND BEING LEFT OUT IN THE COLD BY SOMEONE YOUR REALLY INTO

DIRECTORS COMMENTARY: MAN, THIS SONG ALMOST GOT SCRAPPED, I HATED THAT GAME OF THRONES LINE AND WANTED TO DITCH THE SONG RIGHT OUT THE GATE, THANK GOD I DIDN’T. THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVOURITE SONGS, IT’S GOT ONE OF MY BEST WRITTEN VERSES EVER, IT’S GOT KRIS’ BEST VERSE EVER, AND VALERIE SINGS HER ITALIAN HEART OUT. CRAZY THING, KRIS WROTE HIS VERSE FOR THIS THE SAME DAY HE WROTE VSCO, I STRIVE TO HIT THAT LEVEL OF VERSATILITY. PLUS, VAL KILLED IT. WE SAT DOWN AND SHE TORE MY ORIGINAL HOOK TO SHREDS, BUT BUILT ONE 100 TIMES BETTER, PLUS HR ACTING? ARE U KIDDING ME? SHE WENT INTO THE BOOTH ONCE AND DID THAT WHOLE OUTRO IN ONE TAKE. SHE CRIED ON COMMAND FOR THIS ALBUM AND LITERALLY ENDED IT IN SUCH A WAY THAT I’LL NEVER BE ABLE TO THANK HER ENOUGH
