DIRECTORS COMMENTARY: this is such a kyle song, i love it. the tone, the concept, the visuals. it’s all so smooth and classy feeling. i really like both of our verses, and when kyle sent me this song, i was hooked off the first adlibs in the intro. since the pandemic, we hadn’t cooked up in a while and this was a great opportunity to make a quick, fun and vibrant track. those strings are insannnneee.

ONE DAY, JAT CALLS ME OUTTA NOWHERE AND SAYS HE HAS A SONG HE WANTS ME ON, AND PROCEEDS TO PLAY ME THIS BEAT OVER THE PHONE. OF COUrsE i said yes, and IMMEDIATELY started writing this verse. i really liked the speed of this record and had to bring the punchlines every time i work with jat. plus, i thought jat’s verse was so clean i love it.

DIRECTORS COMMENTARY: this one is a long time coming. jat brought kyle and i this beat during our 2019 studio sessions, and we all fell in love. i wrote my verse on the spot because the energy on this record and that day were so electric. after that, the song kinda fell through the cracks and we never heard much about it again. once jat started working on this album, he reached out and wanted to finish it, problem is, the project file was gone. so we all recorded our verses remotely near the end of 2020. this song took so long to come out but boy was it worth the wait

CONCEPT: The track finds the group showing off each of their styles and lyrical abilities while discussing how successful YV will be in the future.

DIRECTORS COMMENTARY: ttu all came together because i really loved how brockhampton could fit all their members all on one song, and i wanted to do the same in a way that wasn’t a huge cypher. we wanted short verses with a quick bpm so we tasked everyone with writing just an 8 bar. everyone started to just send voice notes of their verses and we saw the track literally grow from a text into voice memos into stems. it was so dope.

CONCEPT: the song revolves around being ghosted and feeling burnt, like drinking flammable liquid kerosene

DIRECTORS COMMENTARY: living with nico, i heard this song from idea on acoustic guitar to fully mastered wav file. i always loved this song and even asked nico if i could remix it myself, and when we needed songs to remix for yv, i had to hop on it. i wrote my verse bout a real experience i had at mansion (ew) in St. Catharines with my ex, and its one of my fav because i felt i really told the story well… i hope she hears it. plus fun fact, while living together, nico and i made tons of music but never really made any songs together. i visited our apartment one last time by myself during quarantine to move all my stuff out and wrote the verse in our studio. i spent 8 months making music in that studio and the last thing i ever wrote was this song, in the same studio kerosene was written in.

DIRECTORS COMMENTARY: i remember making this song minute by minute. we were in the rcc studios at ryerson for jat, kyle and i’s weekly studio session. WE WROTE AND RECORDED THIS SONG THAT DAY, AND HAD IT SITTING ON OUR HARD DRIVES FOR MONTHS. WHEN THE YV TAPE CAME INTO CREATION AND WE NEEDED SONGS TO PUT IN THAT FEATURED YV MEMBERS, WE INSTANTLY KNEW WE HAD TO USE IT.

DIRECTORS COMMENTARY; this is such a wild track, like i’ve always wanted to feature on a cypher, let alone it be my own. everyone really showed out and brought their a-game as per usual. this was the first song we planned, we knew from the start that this song would be a reality. also i love that i get to end this thing after all my brothers, man this song will go down in history for me and us, this is such a cool time capsule of the moment and a reflection of where we all are now, damn this so dope.

DIRECTORS COMMENTARY: nick hit me up to feature on beepax’s new album without question, i was in. i had played with nick and dylan a few times and loved their energy, so when they reached out, i agreed immediately. I remember listening to jon bellion’s “the human condition” on the megabus back to toronto and feeling super inspired to up my writing. once the lights turned on and i took out my ear bud, i wrote that entire verse as the bus pulled into the bay st bus terminal. i booked a studio at ryerson the next day and when nick asked what i thought of the beat, i sent him back a fully recorded verse. it’s my favourite feature verse i’ve ever done, still.
