“we’re having a special double feature at the drive-in tonight”

AESTHETIC SOUND FOR YOUR PLEASURE

this project follows a teenage couple as they escape from their regular lives full of pressure and expectations, and head to a drive-in. During their ride over, they play this project. You are listening to the mixtape as the characters are. In this 16 track project, Champion delivers strong punchlines over clean instrumentals backed by samples from amazing artists like Phoebe Ryan to Bebe Rexha to TYuS.

RELEASED ON december 8th 2016, THE PROJECT established the cinematic universe that every project champion creates, exists in. the project introduces characters, locations, and timeframes that have been referenced and explained further in champion’s discography. it also showed champion could create projects, not just collections of songs

runaway (feat. bebe rexha)

LINES

[Hook: Bebe Rexha]
Take me to some city, where the lights are bright
When I’m with you sugar, it’s like paradise
Take me thousand miles, a thousand miles away
We'll be so far gone just like a runaway
Take me to some city, where the lights are bright
When I’m with you sugar, it’s like paradise
Take me thousand miles, a thousand miles away
We'll be so far gone just like a runaway

[Verse 1: Everett Champion]
Alone on the road, your feet on the dash
Hand on your thigh, focused I won't crash
Gripping on the wheel and I'm trying to go fast
Focused on the future but I’m thinking bout the past
Ain’t thinking about my last, I’m thinking about you
What we bout to do, how to continue
The best thing in my life, yeah I say it so true
I’m always on your skin like a damn tattoo
Blowing up your phone, call me when you alone
Pay for long distance, no matter the time zone
Thinking about that pretty face that you happen to possess
I don't mean to sound aggressive but I think that I’m obsessed
I know that every girl wishes they could have what we have
Love is like a drug, don't send me to rehab
I love the time that we have, I love it when we laugh
Tell me how to improve, girl I need some feedback
You can put on the radio, and you can sing your favourite song
I’ll follow your lips so I can sing along
I’ll follow your hips and we move to the beat
Pulled up to your house, then we tear down the street
Teaching you things like I'm a professor
Never gonna stress ya, put you under pressure
Your beauty is something a scale could never measure
Baby this is Aesthetic Sound For Your Pleasure

[Hook: Bebe Rexha]
Take me to some city, where the lights are bright
When I’m with you sugar, it’s like paradise
Take me thousand miles, a thousand miles away
We'll be so far gone just like a runaway
Take me to some city, where the lights are bright
When I’m with you sugar, it’s like paradise
Take me thousand miles, a thousand miles away
We'll be so far gone just like a runaway

[Verse 2: Everett Champion]
You are now tuned into Aesthetic Sound
Reminiscing to the day when it all went down
We ain't doing what were told, you can spot us in a crowd
Hit the open road, turn up the music loud
Wanna make you feel different, and I spin it like the wheel
Got that ASMR, yeah that's just how I feel
I’m here to stay cause you keep it so real
I need somebody that looks that good in high heels
Hit that XYZ and we fly away
To a warm place, chilling with some tidal waves
This city’s ours, every night and day
Wanna make you feel alright, when I write this way
Hit the station, yeah that's all we do
While we at the drive in, I only want you
Sneak out for a drive, but we’ll make it back
Drive off into the sunset and fade to black
I can make it to the top and you can carry me there
Face out of a magazine like Vanity Fair
So let's go 80, put your hands up in the air
Driving for hours, screaming that “we dont even care”
Pull up to the drive in, park in front of the screen
I’m 16, yup, and I love being a teen
Arm around you, feeling like true bliss
Turn on the radio but then we just hear this

[Hook: Bebe Rexha]
Take me to some city, where the lights are bright
When I’m with you sugar, it’s like paradise
Take me thousand miles, a thousand miles away
We'll be so far gone just like a runaway
Take me to some city, where the lights are bright
When I’m with you sugar, it’s like paradise
Take me thousand miles, a thousand miles away
We'll be so far gone just like a runaway

CONCEPT: THE SONG CONTINUES FROM “THE DRIVEWAY” AND IS ALL ABOUT DRIVING AWAY WITH SOMEONE

DIRECTORS COMMENTARY: I WANTED A SONG THAT WOULD SOUND CINEMATIC AS IT WAS THE FIRST SONG OF THE PROJECT. THE GREAT PART WAS THAT THE ENGINE START-UP SOUNDS WERE ACTUALLY ALREAEDY IN THE INSTRUMENTAL, SO IT WORKED PERFECTLY CONTINUING FROM “THE DRIVEWAY.”I ALSO NAME CHECK ALMOST EVERY SONG ON THE PROJECT IN VERSE TWO

tidal wave (feat. tep no)

LINES

[Intro: Tep No]
I see the future when I wake up
And it’s brighter as we’re falling down
And I’m feeling like I’m pacing
We’ll sleep forever in the sands that we bathed in

[Verse 1: Everett Champion]
How do you the picture the best couple in the world?
An intelligent young man and a beautiful young girl?
A pocket full of cash, and a Beamer full of gas
We’re like Kim and Kanye, but I’m a never crash
I won't ever finish last, let's take it back a few
You’re classic, and this ain't practice you
Got it all going on, I think it’s magic true
You can change my whole life in an afternoon
You can change all my views, no matter place or time
I've been thinking about you when I create this rhyme
And we can waste some time, at your place or mine
Either rain or shine, I’ll savour your mind
When I’m with you, yeah that’s time I’d never trade
We can kick it every second, of every single day
Lay back, relax, and we can find some shade
Tell you that your love hit me like a tidal wave

[Hook: Tep No + Everett Champion] (x2)
It’s not fair when I’m falling down
No it's not even fair
I wanna feel with you
I wanna feel it all with you
Where the wind blows from the tidal wave
Like a tidal wave yup
We’ll sleep forever in the sands that we bathed in
We'll sleep forever in the sands that we bathed in

[Verse 2: Everett Champion]
Let me paint the picture, of when I look at you
An angel in disguise, but I can see through
Your mask, your mirage, and your masquerade
But baby let me say, cause you my escape
From reality, you can hold me down like gravity
You know everything about my heart, that's anatomy
Naturally, we can move anywhere in the galaxy
Survive anywhere and live happily
Maybe live lavishly, Queen that's your majesty
Yeah I got this strategy, thought it out tactically
Sneak out at midnight, running away magically
This is Romeo and Juliet without the tragedy
You'll be on the balcony, and I’ll be on the grass
Pathetic fallacy, yeah there's sunshine at last
I’ve been thinking about you, every night and day
What I’m trying to say, you hit me like a tidal wave

[Hook: Tep No + Everett Champion] (x2)
It’s not fair when I’m falling down
No it's not even fair
I wanna feel with you
I wanna feel it all with you
Where the wind blows from the tidal wave
Like a tidal wave yup
We’ll sleep forever in the sands that we bathed in
We'll sleep forever in the sands that we bathed in

[Bridge: Everett Champion + Tep No]
We can run to my hideaway…
It’s only a million miles away…
I guess what I’m trying to say…
Your love hit me like a tidal wave…
Time with you, I would never replace it
And my hotel room is just so vacant
We’ll sleep forever in the sands that we yeah
We'll sleep forever in the sands that we bathed in

[Outro: Tep No + Everett Champion]
Cause every summer when I wake up
Yeah
I wanna wake up with you
I'm back, I'm back
Alone together, we’re pacing
And every summer when I wake up
2016 and I'm back at it
I feel closer to you
This love, we can’t replace it
Uh, yeah, here we go like...
Cause every summer when I wake up
I wanna wake up with you
Alone together, we’re pacing
And every summer when I wake up
I feel closer to you
This love, we can’t replace it

DIRECTORS COMMENTARY: THIS SONG PLAYED A HUGE ROLE IN THE EVENTUAL “DAZE OF SUMMER” EP, I LOVED THE “SUMMER SOUND” OF IT AND WANTED TO MAKE MORE MUSIC SIMILAR TO THIS ONE. ALSO I REMEMBER WRITING THIS SONG IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SPRING IN MY BACKYARD AND WISHING IT WAS WARMER OUT

what we’re told (feat. katelyn tarver)

LINES

[Chorus: Katelyn Tarver]
We've been killing time
Just tryina skip that 9 to 5, that 9 to 5
Restless happy souls
Not soldiers doing what we're told

[Verse 1: Everett Champion]
Baby, I’ve been thinking about us lately
We on the run like Jay-Z, Beyoncé, that’s crazy
Your lips are the topic, got your love don't stop it
Your body's like "woah," so I run it like Logic
I got what you need, something to read
When I’m not around, and you just need to see
You don't know how much you really mean to me
Your love is like a movie, I’m going scene to scene
But people expect us to be something were not
Let's break the rules and let's give it a shot
Hit the jackpot, won the lottery
But what I want and need, is you on top of me
This is real no trial, lemme grab your hips
Look into your eyes, lemme brush those lips
We can be together until the day we’re old
But baby we ain't doing what were told

[Pre-hook: Everett Champion]
Where do you wanna go?
Do you want to take it slow?
And if your answers no
Hold my hand, and understand, that we can just go
Go, go, go

[Chorus: Katelyn Tarver and Everett Champion]
We've been killing time
Just tryina skip that 9 to 5, that 9 to 5
(That 9 to 5, and that 9 to 5)
Restless happy souls
Not soldiers doing what we're told
(We ain't doing what we're told)

[Verse 2: Everett Champion]
Alright lemme break it down, let's sneak out and drive
Pedal to the metal, we feel so alive
We break the rules, and we leave the town
When the sun is down, and we drive around
So lemme break in, tell every girl I’m taken
Your souls like paradise, so I’m on vacation
Tune into my station, that’s Aesthetic Sound
You a star girl so I guess I’m space bound
Watching you perform like I'm all up on the side lines
Smile every time that you pop up on my time line
Girl we gotta connection like the wifi
The older we get, the better we feel like fine wine
I’ll be Sinatra, you be Monroe
Just give it time and I know it’ll grow
We free as hell, nah we ain't sold
Baby we ain't doing what were told

[Pre-hook: Everett Champion]
Where do you wanna go?
Do you want to take it slow?
And if your answers no
Hold my hand, and understand, that we can just go
Go, go, go

[Chorus: Katelyn Tarver and Everett Champion]
We've been killing time
Just tryina skip that 9 to 5, that 9 to 5
(That 9 to 5, and that 9 to 5)
Restless happy souls
Not soldiers doing what we're told
(We ain't doing what we're told)
We've been killing time
Just tryina skip that 9 to 5, that 9 to 5
(That 9 to 5, and that 9 to 5)
Restless happy souls
Not soldiers doing what we're told
(We ain't doing what we're told)

CONCEPT: KEEPING WITH THE THEME OF THE PROJECT, THE SONG IS ABOUT BREAKING THE RULES AND RUNNING AWAY WITH SOMEONE

DIRECTORS COMMENTARY: I RECOGNIZED THE SAMPLE IMMEDIATELY, NOT DIRECTLY FROM KATELYN, BUT THE USE OF IT ON SKIZZY MARS’ “WEEKEND MILLIONAIRES” AND FELL IN LOVE WITH THE WAY SAMMY USED IT. ALSO THIS WAS REALLY ONE OF THE FIRST TIMES I TRIED SINGING ON A SONG, AND AT FIRST IT WAS SCARY BUT I LOVED THE FINAL PRODUCT OF IT. ALSO THIS IS THE TRACK THAT WE MEET 90.5 AESTHETIC SOUND RADIO, AND THIS IS WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

make you feel alright (feat. alina baraz)

LINES

[Intro: Alina Baraz]
Listen long, long enough, you can love me
(Yeah)
I'll be just yours, you can hold me
Even let you undress my mind
Save it, play it, watch it, then press rewind
I can give you what you need
(Ya know?)
I can give you what you need

[Verse 1: Everett champion]
Baby isn't it crazy?
I can write an album about you daily
Write a song, call you, let you hear it
Every words about you, every single lyric
Thinking about you like every single minute
This is perfect, no breaks and no limits
(Yeah)
I freeze up in a moment
Then I come talk to you, and I feel like I own it
Baby got that long hair, long legs, pretty eyes
We in the backyard, look at the city skies
Hold my hand and just lay here with me
Roll over baby, smile then kiss me
Have a great date, then we think it over
Pull out a bottle, you won't leave sober
Lemme undress your mind
I wonder what I'm gonna find

[Pre Chorus: Alina Baraz]
Breathe, breathe me in, taste my words
Let me blow your mind
I'll take you far, far away
I'll make you feel alright
(Ok)

[Chorus: Alina Baraz & everett champion]
Make you feel alright
(I'm a make you feel alright)
Make you feel alright
(All day, all night)
Make you feel alright
(I'm a make you feel alright)
(Yeah)

[Verse 2: everett champion]
She's a work of art
I've felt this way, straight from the start
Straight to my heart, up to my head
Through my chest, and down to my legs
I can't move and freeze up (yup)
And you tell me to ease up (okay)
Just kiss me please love
We are just kids but I know you can keep up
How do you do it? You are so perfect
All day with you, I know it's worth it
Every single date feels better than the last
Let's make the future, don't worry about the past
Baby let's dance, throw on Riptide
On your team, Imma never switch sides
The way your lips feel pressed against mine
It feels so good in this moment in time

[Bridge: everett champion]
(Okay)
Baby you got it all (damn)
From head to toe (from head to toe)
If you need me, just let me know (yeah)
Just call me up (call me baby)
We can chill all night (all night)
Baby I'm a make you feel alright

DIRECTORS COMMENTARY: THIS IS AN OLD SONG OF MINE, THIS SONG CAME OUT BEFORE MY FIRST MIXTAPE IN 2015, IT WAS THE FIRST SONG I EVER DID WITH KYLE AT STRANGE PUMPKIN TOO. I LOVE THE WAY SKIZZY MARS USED TO USE MOVIE SAMPLES AT THE END OF HIS SONGS, AND WANTED TO DO THE SAME SO I USED A SAMPLE OF CASABLANCA

THE CITY’S OURS (FEAT. HALSEY)

lines

[Verse 1: Everett Champion]
Oh god I'm on something, but I ain't pop a pill
I ain't Super Duper but I always keep it real
I'll tell you what I'm thinking, what I got on my mind
Baby we got all day, so you can just waste my time
You can just be mine, you make me feel this way
Every day, every time, and every single place
I’m in love with this high, even if it melts my mind
Come over, I'll be there to make you feel alright
Oh you liked that song? Good, lay back relax and put it on
I'm glad you that you enjoy and like every single song
And I feel like I'm on some kind of drug, Marc. E Bassy
I've been thinking about you lately, thinking about being my baby
And we can just kick it, this high's got me lifted
That ecstasy and love, sorry I can't tell the difference
Well we sneaking out, in the dark, passing cars
While we screaming out, that this city is ours

[Pre-Hook: Halsey]
Survival of the richest, the city’s ours until the fall
They’re Monaco and Hamptons bound
But we don’t feel like outsiders at all

[Hook: Halsey & Everett Champion]
We are the new Americana
(Look at us when we walk through)
High on legal marijuana
(And we get high if we want to)
Raised on Biggie and Nirvana
(All you gotta do is make the call)
We are the new Americana
(This city’s ours until the fall)

[Verse 2: Everett Champion]
Voice is like Molly, body is like cocaine
So when it's top of me, I never feel no pain
We ain’t going home, but Nothing Was The Same
Want you to come thru, and I’ll own it like the game
Your smile is like heroin, I'm addicted to that visual
I'll be anything you want, a doctor or a criminal
Chill on the cold nights, make out on summer days
Listening to old Ye, yeah we run away
Your lips are like ecstasy, let me take another hit of it
This love is unique, yeah this love is so different
But I don’t smoke, I don’t pop, I don’t drop acid
Plug the aux cord in and we bumping some classics
Yeah we run this town, and we young forever
Just a reminder, that we as real as it gets, when we together
Nobody can tell us nothing, we driving away far
While we screaming out, that this city is ours

[Pre-Hook: Halsey]
Survival of the richest, the city’s ours until the fall
They’re Monaco and Hamptons bound
But we don’t feel like outsiders at all

[Hook: Halsey & Everett Champion]
We are the new Americana
(Look at us when we walk through)
High on legal marijuana

ASMR (INTERLUDE) [FEAT. ALINA BARAZ]

lines

[Hook: Alina Baraz]
I only miss you when the sun goes down
Oh your voice is my favorite sound
Swaying like the palm trees
You and me we're poetry
Painting stories with our lips

[Verse 1: Everett Champion]
Let your hair fall down, let it hang to your waist
Thinking about your lips and wanting to get a taste
There’s something about how the sun hits your face
That makes me want to never leave this place
And that’s a waste of time, and girl we don't need that
Really need some feedback, tell me where your dreams at
Yeah, cause I'm along for the ride
Kick it on a lawn then we bring it back inside
When I see you, when I breath you
When I wanna have it all
When I’m near you, when I hear you
That's like every night you call
It's that tingle that moves from my neck, through my spine
Whenever we just grind, so I get it all the time
You got a beautiful mind, and I’m frozen in time
But don't open the blinds, and let in the sun shine
Let's just relax and let time pass
Bring it to your room fast, make out and then crash

[Hook: Alina Baraz]
I only miss you when the sun goes down
Oh your voice is my favorite sound
Swaying like the palm trees
You and me we're poetry
Painting stories with our lips

[Break: Alina Baraz & Everett Champion]
Foreign feelings that I can't ignore
(I can't ignore)
Oh I never felt like this before
(I ain't ever felt like)
What's a king without a queen
(Yeah)
You could be my everything
(You could be my)
Can't you see?

[Verse 2: Everett Champion]
I still get the feeling of you when you're not here
It ended months ago but the feelings have not cleared
The memories of a love have not disappeared
But this moment right now is something that I feared
I’m being honest, see I thought you'd my wife
Us kids talking like we knew about life
But now that you’ve moved on, our feeling are not close
I still get the feeling seeing a picture that you post
I’m still hung up on you, but I know that you’ve moved on
On to better things, and I’m still writing these songs
You still got my hoodies, perfume stuck in the fabric
It’s tragic, but I know that you’ve moved past it
But I know it took time, you didn't ruin a friend
Once you're settled in, maybe we can do it again
But I’m not mad, I want you to succeed
Achieve every stepping stone, that leads you to your dreams
This is just life, I truly understand that you got plans
You got school up on your hands, no time for a man
I still get the tingle when I think of my girl
That had to let go to move on into the world
This is a love letter that's written in lyrics
To a girl I’m not even sure will ever just hear it
But if you happen to hear this, when I drop it in the fall
You got my number, I’m asking for you to
Just call me back

[Hook: Alina Baraz]
I only miss you when the sun goes down
Oh your voice is my favorite sound
Swaying like the palm trees
You and me we're poetry
Painting stories with our lips

[Break: Alina Baraz & Everett Champion]
Foreign feelings that I can't ignore
(I can't ignore)
Oh I never felt like this before
(I ain't ever felt like)
What's a king without a queen
(Yeah)
You could be my everything
(You could be my)
Can't you see?

[Outro: Everett Champion]
Your lips and thighs, got me hypnotized
I can't look away, and I fantasize
Realize what I’m doing and apologize
Can’t verbalize, what I visualize
I get this feeling that you recognize
When I see you, my mind gets revitalized
We ain’t gotta plan, we can improvise
ASMR as we start to drive
Away

CONCEPT: AUTONOMOUS SENSORY MERIDIAN RESPONSE OR ASMR, IS A EUPHORIC EXPERIENCE CHARACTERIZED BY A STATIC-LIKE OR TINGLING SENSATION ON THE SKIN THAT TYPICALLY BEGINS ON THE SCALP AND MOVES DOWN THE BACK OF THE NECK AND UPPER SPINE, PRECIPITATING RELAXATION. THE EXPERIENCE IS TRIGGERED VISUALLY OR SONICALLY IN MOST CASES. I USE ASMR TO DESCRIBE MY FEELINGS ABOUT MY EX AND HOW I STILL HAD THAT EXPERIENCE WHENEVER I WOULD SEE HER

DIRECTORS COMMENTARY: THIS WAS THE HARDEST SONG FOR ME TO RECORD SINCE IT WAS SO EMOTIONAL AND FRESH TO ME. I DIDN’T WANT TO LOSE ANY ENERGY SO I RECORDED THE ENTIRE SONG IN ONE TAKE

“we’re having a special double feature at the drive-in tonight”

open road

lines

[Verse 1: Everett Champion]
On nights like these, we live in a bliss dream
Drive in to the drive in, gaze at the big screen
Yeah, living in that summer sixteen
Spot you a pair of Converse and ripped jeans
She know what life means, she's got these big dreams
And I'm high off her, yeah she can just lift me
Up (up, up) and I never wanna come down
Girl I hate the come down, but I want your love now
I want the sun roof down, look at the sunset
Start thinking about everything we ain't done yet
Pumped as hell, we gonna do it all soon
Sneaking out for a drive, silhouette from the moon
Streetlights at night, and the road just empty
Driving away oh, girl don't tempt me
Yeah I got a Jeep but it drive like a Bentley
And heavens in our headlights, like I played in Hedley
She’s got this little thing but I can't explain it
She's a work of art, a masterpiece painting
Can't get her outta my head, I'm not complaining
I want to kiss her outside while it's raining
Never make her mad, and I'll never meet another
Throw on Vance Joy and climb under the covers
She from the 905 and I feel so alive
Aux cord to your phone, 1st street and drive

[Hook: Everett Champion]
In the whip and we driving
Aux cord and we vibing
Putting up mileage, I'mma hold you close
Blast your phone, we hit the open road
I've been thinking about you lately
Pedal to the medal hitting 80
It’s just us, I'mma hold you close
Blast your phone, we hit the open road

[Verse 2: Everett Champion]
Open the sun roof and let in the breeze
The car smells like your perfume and fresh leaves
Roll every window down, look up at the clouds
Multiply your love, now I’m thinking out loud
Cause it's what she likes, so I like it too
Think of a perfect couple and I think of us two
Think about you and dream you are
Rent a Corvette for a day and we drive far
Who cares where we going? Who even has to know?
Sneaking out at midnight the night before, and just go
Just cruise, never stop for any sign
It's worth the money that I'd pay for the fine
I don't mind, yeah whatever that we up to
I just really love that I really love you
And I trust you, and you trust me, that's rare
Play your records and let me just play with your hair
Let me turn down the lights, and we can just sing
I’m in it for the long haul, this ain't a one time thing
And this summer, yup, we gonna do it all again
If we're apart, I'll type up a message, hit send
Gave me it once now I’m back for more
Turn on The Weeknd and we lock the door
She from the 905 and I feel so alive
Aux cord to your phone, 1st street and drive

[Hook: Everett Champion]
In the whip and we driving
Aux cord and we vibing
Putting up mileage, I'mma hold you close
Blast your phone, we hit the open road
I've been thinking about you lately
Pedal to the medal hitting 80
It’s just us, I'mma hold you close
Blast your phone, we hit the open road

CONCEPT: THIS SYMBOLIZES THE COUPLE SPEEDING AWAY FROM THE GAS STATION AND THEIR MOODS LIGHTENING AFTER A FEW SLOW SONGS AND A SKIT

DIRECTORS COMMENTARY: I WROTE THIS SONG IN 2016 WHILE IN THE BAHAMAS. I HAD JUST DISCOVERED THE 1975 AND THEIR SONG “LOVING SOMEONE” AND THOUGHT IT WAS BRILLIANT. I LOVED THE WAY MATTY HEALY RAPPED ALL OVER THIS POP BEAT AND THE HOOK WAS FANTASTIC. I IMMEDIATELY BEGAN WRITING TO THE SONG, LOOPING IT ON THE BALCONY OF MY HOTEL WHILE LOOKING AT THE SUNSET, SOME MOVIE TYPE VIBES. ORIGINALLY, I DIDN’T THINK ANYONE KNEW THE 1975 AND WAS GOING TO REMIX THE SONG OR SAMPLE IT, LITTLE DID I KNOW THAT EVERYONE IN THE UNIVERSE KNEW THEM. I STILL LOVED THE LYRICS THOUGH AND MADE SURE THEY LIVED ON BEYOND MY “LOVING SOMEONE” REMIX

“we’re having a special double feature at the drive-in tonight”

when it went down (feat. phoebe ryan)

lines

[Hook: Phoebe Ryan]
When it went down, it was so hard to breathe
I gave up everything in a slow fall down to the floor
Life was escaping me, I couldn’t find myself
‘Till it was all lost

[Verse 1: Everett Champion]
Uh remember when I first came over
I couldn’t hide the feelings, no covert
Driving to your heart, no chauffeur
Wasn’t trying to get lucky, no clover
I was so nervous when we first got together
Wore so much cologne I probably ruined that sweater
Perfect night for a bonfire, with clear weather
I just wanted to get there and make you feel better
When I first met you, I never expected
That I would be so excited when you called or texted
But you did, and I couldn’t believe it
And I know you’re gonna smile when you read these lyrics
So here we go, you got me running circles in my mind
And every time I see you, yeah the brightness shines
When I write these rhymes, and when I listen to the sound
All I can think about, is when it went down

[Hook: Phoebe Ryan]
When it went down, it was so hard to breathe
I gave up everything in a slow fall down to the floor
Life was escaping me, I couldn’t find myself
‘Till it was all lost

[Verse 2: Everett Champion]
Pulled up to your house, walked through the gate
I couldn’t wait, knees weak yeah I couldn’t walk straight
And I met the whole fam, then we went back inside
Arm around you on the couch, and you by my side
I still smell you on that very same sweater
And I’m writing down words but don’t mail 'em like a letter
And it's better, that I relay them in a song
Text you the lyrics so that you can sing along like:
Can I get it right now?
Can I get it right now?
Go home, vibe out, then I just write down
Love the feeling of your lips whenever I bite down
Chill and watch a movie, at your place or my house
We can make it, we can do it
If it’s damaged, we improve it
Take a long walk, stroll through the town
All I can think about is, when it went down

[Hook: Phoebe Ryan]
When it went down, it was so hard to breathe
I gave up everything in a slow fall down to the floor
Life was escaping me, I couldn’t find myself
‘Till it was all lost

[Outro: Everett Champion & Phoebe Ryan]
When it went down
What up Phoebe?
When it went, when it went
Ay
When it went down
(When it went down)

DIRECTORS COMMENTARY: I FELL IN LOVE WITH PHOEBE RYAN’S VOICE WHEN I FIRST HEARD HER ON SKIZZY MARS’ “THE CITY” AND WHEN I FIRST HEARD THIS INSTRUMENTAL WITH HER VOCALS IN IT, I WAS SO EXCITED TO HAVE HER VOICE ON ONE OF MY SONGS

here to stay (feat. nico tk & devon baldwin)

lines

[Hook: Devon Baldwin]
You think I'm the one lets play the game, play the game, play the game
I could hold you down blow you away, you away, you away
Pulling out a gun taking aim, I'm taking aim
I won't let you out I'm here to stay, here to stay, I'm here to stay

[Verse 1: Everett Champion]
Look, I’ve been thinking tonight
Wanna do it again, but I wanna do it right
Cause you got long hair that my fingers flow through
The whole room stops as soon as you go through
Like woah
I love seeing your face
Make my heart race whenever we at your place
Heads in the clouds like I’m chilling right below space
I wanted a kiss, thank God that was your case
Yeah, I remember I was so nervous
Chilling often on the weekend, cause you worth it
You perfect, a work of art, I couldn’t help but stare
When you smile as I play with your hair
And your face lights up with every facial expression
See you in the halls, yeah that’s in between lessons
Left a mark on me, something like an impression
Pouring my heart in out in a recording session
That movie was lame, but I know that you ain’t
Don't say a word but I know what you saying
Can’t text you at night cause I know that you faint
From the same city, that’s Kitts to Saint
I remember every word that you said to me
When I'm alone, think of you as my remedy
Yeah it's hard to write this, but I’m here to say
You may be gone, but those memories are here to stay
Right?

[Hook: Devon Baldwin]
You think I'm the one lets play the game, play the game, play the game
(Let's play the, let's play the, let's play the game)
I could hold you down blow you away, you away, you away
(Yeah, yeah, uh uh)
Pulling out a gun taking aim, I'm taking aim
(Yeah)
I won't let you out I'm here to stay, here to stay, I'm here to stay
(Yeah)

[Verse 2: Nico Tripodi]
Stary stary stary night
Strokes of blue and black and white
Vincent never got it right
Cause girl he never let you shine right
NYC, has been enough for me
On New Year’s Eve, you and me shine right
Sent you home with a pocket knife
Said he won’t but I thought he might
But a blade won’t win a fight
Still you pulled it at the light
Thank god all of the red turned to green
Where you been? What you seen tell me?
We can roll up straight up break the news
And get him up and off of you
See you don’t gotta dance with two
And fix your pain like auto tune
(You're a painting and I miss you)

[Hook: Devon Baldwin]
You think I'm the one lets play the game, play the game, play the game
(Okay, let's play, let's play the, can we play the game?)
I could hold you down blow you away, you away, you away
(Right away, right away, right, ay, uh uh)
Pulling out a gun taking aim, I'm taking aim
(Yup, yeah, I'm taking, BLAM! right?)
I won't let you out I'm here to stay, here to stay, I'm here to stay
(Here to stay, I'm here to stay)

make you feel different (feat. alina baraz)

lines

[Intro: Alina Baraz]
Listen long, long enough you can love me
I’ll be just yours, you can hold me
Even let you undress my mind
Save it, play it, watch it then press rewind
I can give you what you need
I can give you what you need

[Verse 1: Everett Champion]
Looking and her and I can't focus
Super star, she knows it
My heart is open to her, I’ll never try to close it
Wanna stop the moment, keep it frozen
Singing every word that I’m composing (yup)
So my name is Everett
Can I take you out to dinner, you wear something elegant
I can hold you on the ride home, so delicate
Bring it back to my house, and chill for the hell of it
You know that I got it, flow so hypnotic
And you told me you loved me, but I never forgot it
You gave me a shot and, that’s all that I needed
Never gon argue, we never get heated
Take a vacation, we go and retreat and
Leaving on Thursday, and stay for the weekend
We get alone, and you get to freaking
These Things Happen, yeah you know that I mean it
Word to G, baby you work it so perfectly
Certainly she burning me, with that third degree
I can be your best friend but in turn, I can work for free
With you, I can’t drive through
I got your back, like I’m standing behind you
Get in the shower if it all goes wrong
In the city's where I belong

[Verse 2: Everett Champion]
Driving tonight, there's no cars on the highway
Turn off the lights, while I pull up in your driveway
After the movies, we gonna bring it back to my place
It’s a Friday, bump Sinatra that's My Way
Writing you these songs, when I’m in the right mindstate
We can watch the sunrise just like the crime rate
Breaking any rule, yeah bout to vilate
Don’t worry bout your parents, I’mma drop you off by 8
AM, ay girl that’s how it goes down
Memorized every word that I’ve ever wrote down
Without you in my life, this world would be a ghost town
We gonna let the money counter blow out
And our voices just drowned, by the music that’s blasting
I swear you're so classic, you perform magic
Got a spell and you cast it, while I’m feeling fantastic
Don't need no practice, flipping like gymnastics
Get lit like matches, relax on the mattress
Got some tactics, to leave St. Catharines
It's us on the road, no cars, no traffic
Well we making out listening to radio static
My passion, I’ve invested into you
Never take a break, like an interlude
Perfect as your man like an interview
Pay me in full salary, not just a bit of you
I want the whole thing, to hear your soul sing
I’ll call you every night, just wait till your phone ring
Girl you know you got me in the palm of your hand
All you gotta do is throw on a song and just dance
And no matter where I stand, and no matter the reach
Get on your knees, I got something to preach
Got a few lessons, that I wanna teach
Only thing on you, is the sand from the beach
Can we just go? Away from it all
Away from the city, away from the Falls
You know you're that your pretty, I know when you call
Relax in the summer, we met in the fall
I’m on a mission to see
If I can make you feel differently
You MIA up in M.I.A
And you know that the only thing missing is me

[Outro: Alina Baraz]
Listen long, long enough you can love me
I’ll be just yours, you can hold me
Even let you undress my mind
Save it, play it, watch it then press rewind
I can give you what you need
I can give you what you need

CONCEPT: I REALLY WANTED A SONG TO JUST RAP ON ABOUT A GIRL, AND HAVE FUN WITH IT. THIS SONG MIRRORS TRACK 5 - “MAKE YOU FEEL ALRIGHT” - AS IT USES THE SAME SAMPLE BUT IS FLIPPED VERY DIFFERENTLY AND LYRICALLY, IT MIRRORS THE INNOCENCE OF THE ORIGINAL AND INSTEAD GIVES A MORE MATURE VIEW OF MAKING SOMEONE FEEL GOOD

DIRECTORS COMMENTARY: WHEN I HEARD THE DIFFERENT USE OF THE SAMPLE, AND THE CRAZY DRUMS, I IMMEDIATELY WROTE TO IT. ALSO, THERE IS ANOTHER DIRECT TIE-IN WITH THE ALBUM: I STATE IN VERSE 2, “DON’T WORRY BOUT YOUR PARENTS, I’MMA DROP YOU OFF BY 8 / AM, AY GIRL THAT’S HOW IT GOES DOWN.” IN THE STORY OF THE ALBUM, THE GIRL’S PARENTS ACTUALLY DON’T WAKE UP UNTIL 8 FOR WORK

[Intro: Everett champion]
Yeah
Kors, Chanel, Prada, and thatGucci
Ford, Coach, Dior, and that Louis
Yeah, it's EZ
Uh
Yo

[Verse 1: Everett champion]
On the weekends, she let it all go
Her name is Lucy, she visits Toronto
Got some blow, that she bought up in NYC
I can never find her like XYZ
In her purse, there's eye shadow and concealer
A little white bag that she bought from her dealer
Carries hundred dollar bills, but can't pay the meter
Rough and emotional, that's how these guys leave her
Bruised, broken, cover it with that makeup
Work on the side, a few tips for her pay cut
Never had a goal, and she never set it far
Always falling back on every credit card
She moved to the city for the drugs and the liquor
Burned her money fast, it couldn’t happen any quicker
Every bottle makes her sicker, 3 of 'em and she’s done
Got as many failures as friends she's got, none

[Pre-Hook: Everett champion]
Addicted to the lights and the sounds
Bunch of bad habits and you wear ‘em like a crown
You’re royalty around here baby get down
You’re royalty around here baby get down
While you passing out on random guys
But she doesn’t act surprised
Lipstick shade the same red as her eyes
Well you always screaming, “life is never fair as hell”
Going round and round, on this carousal

[Hook: Everett champion]
Girl where you been at? Whatcha you wanna be?
But you'll never get it with that XYZ
Every cities not the best, Chicago to The Bay
Miami and LA, different city every day
Every weeks a new drug, a months a new habit
It’s not classic, when every line contains that magic
And you’ll never know what the best might be
Cause girl this is the end like XYZ

[Verse 2: Everett champion]
I swear she’s a modern Audrey Hepburn
Spends her money so fast, so don't get burned
But don't get curved, man she from the valley
Living in Cali but vacations in Maui
And her boyfriend don't even know where she at
"Across the globe, will she ever make it back?
I don’t know, got some coke and a pack of cigarettes
Always needs an upgrade, always needs a bigger jet
While she popping pills, passing out randomly
Collapsing on the floor, well she's a walking calamity
But her whole life is just a crazy fantasy
But her only best friend is just her vanity
While I’m on that Skizzy Mars shit, but I'm going through Phases
I swear your love for me is the only thing that ever changes
Trying to act WASPY, like you live in an oasis
Keep your feet planted, but you always change places
You got me on speedial when you need a place to crash
Tell her nights are going fast, when you're just having a blast
Tell her focus on the future, don't focus on the past
Nights filled with bad decisions, getting high and getting smashed
She goes to a party like every single friday
I'm headed to the top, and she’s just heading side-ways
Even on my day, she always interrupts me"
Yo cut the tape abruptly, now she saying loves me?

[Pre-Hook: Everett champion]
Addicted to the lights and the sounds
Bunch of bad habits and you wear ‘em like a crown
You’re royalty around here baby get down
You’re royalty around here baby get down
While you passing out on random guys

ALSO, THE PRE-HOOK IS SAMPLED FROM “ROYALTY” BY ONE OF MY ALL-TIME FAVOURITE BANDS, DOWN WITH WEBSTER. BOTH SONGS SHARE A SIMILAR TOPIC OF RICH, PARTY GIRLS.

[intro: tyus]
OHHH
GOT A BAD BITCH FROM THE CITY OF THE ROSE
AND SHE KNOWS, HOW IT GOES
SHE NEVER LEFT THE CITY BUT SHE’S NOT LOCAL

[VERSE 1: Everett champion]
BABY? WHAT YOU WANNA GET UP INTO
MAKE ME FORGET EVERYTHING THAT I’VE BEEN THROUGH
MAKE YOU FORGET ALL ABOUT YOUR STRESS
THINKING ABOUT YOU CAUSE YOU GOT THE BEST
SAID YOU GOT IT ALL, YOU GOT THE BALL
PICK UP MY PHONE EVERY TIME YOU CALL
HIT SPEEED DIAL OR TYPE THAT 905
BLAST THIS IN THE CAR, YEAH START TO DRIVE
DOWN LAKE STREET, BUMPING “A MOMENT IN TIME”
PULL UP TO YOUR HOUSE AND WE GO INSIDE
FEELINGS ARE OPEN, I’LL NEVER JUST HIDE
AND I’M FEELING THE BEST WHEN I’M BY YOUR SIDE
EVERY TIME THAT I’M HERE, EVERY TIME THAT I’M WITH YOU
SPARK UP THE CONVERSATION LIKE A LIT FUSE
I’M IN PARADISE, JUST LOOK AT THE VIEW
NOT OUT THE WINDOW, I’M LOOKING AT YOU
HONESTLY I’M THINKING THAT YOU OUGHTA KNOW
YOU KNOCK ME DOWN LIKE A DOMINO
I’M IN THE RIGHT TIME, I’M IN THE RIGHT PLACE
PUT ON MY TRACKS AND TURN UP THE BASS
TURN UP THE VOLUNE AND TURN ON YOUR PHONE
CALL ME AT NIGHT WHEN YOU’RE ALL ALONE
I’VE BEEN THINKING ABOUT ME, I’VE BEEN THINKING ABOUT YOU
THINKING ABOUT THE NEXT TIME THAT YOU GONNA COME THROUGH

[Hook: TYUS]
I REALLY NEED SOMEBODY, ARE YOU THAT SOMEBODY?
I REALLY NEED SOMEBODY, ARE YOU THAT SOMEBODY?
(UH!)
I REALLY NEED SOMEBODY, ARE YOU THAT SOMEBODY?
I REALLY NEED SOMEBODY, ARE YOU THAT SOMEBODY?

[Verse 2: Everett champion]
LATE NIGHT AND WE DRIVING
THROUGH THE CITY FORGOT WHAT THE TIME IS
THINKING ABOUT YOU WHILE I’M JUST RHYMING
VIBING, GO TO THE JEWELLERS, PICK UP A DIAMOND
NECKLACE, WEAR IT WHEN WE ALL UP ON THE GUEST LIST
OR MAYBE WE CAN JUST CHILL WITH SOME NETFLIX
SOME BREAKFAST IN BED OR SOME MUSIC INSTEAD
WHO CARES WHAT WE DOING, LET’S STAY IN YOUR BED
LET’S STAY HERE ALL DAY, AND GO OUT FOR THE NIGHT
DINNER AND MOVIES, NO DRAMA, NO FIGHTS
THAT’S WHAT I LIKE, THAT’S WHAT I NEED
I JUST STEP BACK AND YOU TAKE THE LEAD
I’LL JUST STEP BACK AND GET ON THE BEAT
I’M HIGH OFF YOU EVERY TIME I BREATH
I’M HIGH OFF YOU LIKE THERE’S RED IN MY EYES
FILL UP THE TANK AND THEN WE JUST DRIVE
AWAY, FROM ALL OF THE STRESS
YOU HANDLE IT WELL, HONESTLY I’M IMPRESSED
CAUSE IT’S HARD TO BE TEENS, IT’S HARD TO JUST DO IT
I DID IT ON MY OWN AND I DIDN’T NEED CUPID
CAUSE NOW WE’RE TOGETHER, A COUPLE AT LAST
WE TOOK IT SLOW, THERE’S NO NEED TO GO FAST
I’VE BEEN THINKING ABOUT ME, THINKING ABOUT YOU
THINKING ABOUT THE NEXT TIME THAT I’M GONNA COME THROUGH

[Hook: TYUS]
I REALLY NEED SOMEBODY, ARE YOU THAT SOMEBODY?
I REALLY NEED SOMEBODY, ARE YOU THAT SOMEBODY?
(UH!)
I REALLY NEED SOMEBODY, ARE YOU THAT SOMEBODY?
I REALLY NEED SOMEBODY, ARE YOU THAT SOMEBODY?

[Hook: EVERETT CHAMPION & TYUS]
I REALLY NEED, I REALLY NEED SOME
I REALLY NEED, I REALLY NEED SOME
I REALLY NEED, I REALLY NEED SOME
I REALLY NEED, I REALLY NEED SOME OF YOU

[Hook: TYUS]

“we’re having a special double feature at the drive-in tonight”

double feature (feat. nico tk)

lines

[Verse 1: Everett Champion]
Pull up the drive in, cars parked in the lot
Found a nice spot, yeah we slid into that slot
We finally here, we driving a few miles
It’s a double feature so we gonna be here for awhile
Roll up the windows, turn down the lights
High off each other, we reaching some new heights
We made it here without getting caught, what a night
Yeah you know it feels good, and I’m all alright
We in pitch black, and we just kick back
Bring out the bottle that she stole, and we sip jack
And the first flick was a blur, I was focused on her
One hand on her neck, one on the liqueur
I didn't see the second, I was focused on her beauty
Paying 15 dollars and I didn't watch the movie
I was focused on her touch, distracted by the sound
Needed to cool off, we roll the window down

[Hook: Nico Tripodi & (Everett Champion)]
Oooh baby were so human
Sitting in the dark wondering if we should do this
I want to just chill but I’m ready to dive in
This is my life, this is my choice
Sounds of the move just drown out my voice at the
The drive in, the drive in
(I’m ready to go, take it slow when I slide in)
The drive in, the drive in
(First time, all mine, we about to try it)
The drive in, the drive in
(I bet my friends are gonna ask everywhere that I’ve been)

[Verse 2: Everett Champion]
Turned off the station, tuned to the next
About every other couple here is probably having sex
Honestly it’s on my mind, yeah I must digress
Kissing on your lips, and your hands on my chest
Turn off our phones, no calls, no texts
No worries, no stress
Just feeling so blessed
I really wanna make get undressed
But then I worry can I put my skills to the test
But you know that’s not the only reason that I’m here
Never a motive in my mind, I'm just making that clear
"Just do it and do it right," that's what I've heard from my friends
"Just hook up one night and never call her again
Cause you got what you came for, put her in the past
Next time we see her, don't worry we'll all laugh
Cause she gave it up fast, then it's my turn to hit it
It's just high school dude, why you being so committed?"

[Hook: Nico Tripodi & (Everett Champion)]
Oooh baby were so human
Sitting in the dark wondering if we should do this
I want to just chill but I’m ready to dive in
This is my life, this is my choice
Sounds of the move just drown out my voice at the
The drive in, the drive in
(I’m ready to go, take it slow when I slide in)
The drive in, the drive in
(First time, all mine, we about to try it)
The drive in, the drive in
(I bet my friends are gonna ask everywhere that I’ve been)

[Verse 3: Everett Champion]
But don't worry, I know what you mean
Not every single teen, always thinks clean
And we drove all the way here, to park in front of a screen
But the journey was better, than any movie scene
My friends have been telling me not to take the advance
Ignore the subtle glance, and purposely miss my chance
And I worry will it look like this was my only mission
I know you're friends are gonna ask about every position
And how it all felt, and if I was surprised
When you took your hands off my shoulder and on to my thighs
And I know my friends are gonna say "didn't we tell you?
You gave it up quick and then it just fell through"
I mean were all just humans living on this earth
It's funny if they call me a slut cause it's my first
And it's yours too, we ain't ever did this before no
Just to be careful turn off the lights and keep the door close
My friends have been telling me not to come here alone
"Cause what if in the moment he takes out his phone
And shows all his friends what was simply flirtation"
Do you know bad that could be for your reputation?"
That’s what they keep telling me, what they want me to believe
They're right, some guys would just hook up and leave
But we’ve been together for awhile, we’ve talked about life
Talked about our future and what it's gonna be like
This isn’t a hook up, just to have a good night
This is human nature and it just feels so right
I know were both under pressure, were both under stress
I know we both got a lot of things to get off our chests
So we sitting in the dark, not sure if we should start
Cause we both want pleasure, but can't lose our hearts
Drinks are kicking in, no words are complex
If you were me, what would you do next?
If you were him, what would you do next?
If you were her, what would you do next?
If you were use, what would you do next?

DIRECTORS COMMENTARY: THIS IS IT, THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVOURITE SONGS I’VE EVER WRITTEN. IT FELT SO LIBERATING TO DELVE INTO THESE TOPICS AND SPEAK ABOUT REAL EVENTS THAT A LOT OF TEENS EXPERIENCE. SEEING MY FAMILY’S REACTION TO THIS SONG WAS… INTERESTING TO SAY THE LEAST, NO MOM WANTS TO HEAR HER SON SING ABOUT HOOKING UP WITH A GIRL IN HER CAR. [Verse: Everett Champion]
This is for the girls that listen to hip hop
Ones with no make up, just some lip gloss
Spending money on books instead of a wrist watch
Sporting converse, not walking the rich walk
Low cut jeans, high self esteem
The ones up on a mission, with ambition and a dream
Low-key ones who aren't as they seem
The ones that live in the moment, but then wonder why life means
This is for the girls that got 5 favorite songs
Lyrics on the brain, so that they can sing along
The ones that make short nights just feel so long
The ones that don't post a pic, with almost nothing on
This is for the girls with the style of a model
That go and hit that throttle, and sneak out a bottle
This is for the ones with the angelic smile
Bought a record player, listening to vinyl
The ones that really understand the passion
Understand love, and can understand the fashion
The ones that are bad girl whenever they feel like
The ones that make you question, if this is real life
The ones from aesthetic Twitter pages
Loves old books and would never rip the pages
They so outrageous, and they far from basic
The ones that got time, but would never just waste it
Yeah the girls that really understand
Take 'em to the beach, they don't complain about the sand
Saving up cash just to see their favourite band
Then they cry cause they went and touched the lead singer's hand
This is for the girls, who love old flicks
Got Stellatos in the closet, but prefers dirty kicks
Red carpet affair or a night full of Netflix
Polaroids snap, just listen for those clicks
They prefer dark nights, with stars in the sky
Than hitting up a party and looking for any guy
The girls that have friends, don't pass through 'em like trend's
The ones that are here to stay until the end
The ones with little secrets, and a delicate touch
The book smart girls, who don't think too much
The ones living real lives, light skin and teal eyes
And realize the real lies ain't coming from the real guys
They coming from the guys, that just want a night
That do white girl with white girls, or just want a light
This is for the girls who turn those guys down
Turn the music up loud, and disappear into the sound
This is for the girls who go out, but keep you posted
Ones that like a slow night, but it's full of motion
The ones that love the smell right next to the ocean
The ones that actually tell you their emotions
The ones that a rebels, don't care for the rules
Sneaking out and going swimming in other people's pools
The ones that study hard, don't settle for no pass
Staying out late but still make it to class
The ones that look good, no matter what they do
I mean the ones, exactly like you
Treat her like a queen, be the perfect king
Dance and sing, and see what life just might bring
This is for the girls, that have soft skin
And it sounds like music whenever they talking
The ones that stay over for breakfast
Kissing on her neck, push over her necklace
She a little reckless, she prefers Netflix
And honestly yeah, her kisses can you leave you breathless
The girls who sleep on you like anesthetic
The ones that bring the sound, and aesthetic
Words can hurt, and you can’t take it back
All I really wanna do is to make you laugh
Just woke up, not sure if we'll make it back
Life's a movie so I guess we 'bout to fade to black

CONCEPT: AS THE BOY AND THE GIRL DRIVE AWAY INTO THE SUNRISE, I DETAIL THE TYPE OF GIRL I WANT TO SPEND MY LIFE WITH. THE SONG IS A METAPHOR FOR NOT ONLY THE STORY FADING TO BLACK BUT ALSO MY LIFE ENDING WITH THIS GIRL

DIRECTORS COMMENTARY: THIS IS ALSO 1 OF 2 SONGS ON THE THAT ISN’T PLAYED ON THE RADIO DIEGETICALLY, IT’S MORE OF A NARRATOR ENDING THE MOVIE WITH A VOICE OVER AS THE COUPLE DRIVES OFF INTO THE SUNSET. ALSO THE BOY MENTIONS HOW IT’S 5:30AM, GIVING THEM ENOUGH TIME TO GET BACK IN TIME BEFORE THEIR PARENTS WAKE UP FOR WORK AS THE PROJECT ONLY LASTS AN HOUR, BUT IF YOU REMEMBER THE BOY MENTIONS THEY NEED TO STOP FOR GAS AGAIN SO HIS DAD DOESN’T REALIZE THE CAR WAS USED. THE COUPLE DOESN’T HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO STOP FOR GAS, SO DOES THE BOY’S DAD FIND OUT? WHO KNOWS…?
